šŸ”§ Corolla - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades restores clear vision in rain and helps prevent windshield scratching from worn rubber. This job is quick and requires no special skills—just careful handling so the wiper arm doesn’t snap against the glass.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.4 hours

āš ļø Safety & Precautions

  • āš ļø Keep the wiper arm from snapping onto the windshield; it can crack the glass.
  • āš ļø Do not turn the wipers on while a blade is removed.
  • āš ļø Work on a cool, dry windshield for better grip.
  • āš ļø Battery disconnect is not required.

šŸ”§ Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Microfiber towel
  • Plastic trim tool
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Safety glasses

šŸ”© Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 26", Passenger: 16" - Qty: 2

šŸ“‹ Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and turn the ignition OFF.
  • Lift the wiper arms only when you’re ready to swap the blades.
  • Place a microfiber towel on the lower windshield area as a safety cushion.

šŸ”Ø Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the wiper arm safely

  • Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
  • Lay a microfiber towel on the windshield where the wiper might contact.
  • Lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the glass until it stays up.
  • Hold the arm; don’t let it drop.

Step 2: Remove the old blade from the arm

  • Find the connector where the blade meets the wiper arm (this is the ā€œadapterā€ that locks the blade in place).
  • Press the small release tab on the connector with your thumb.
  • If the tab is stubborn, gently help it with a plastic trim tool (a non-metal pry tool that won’t scratch).
  • Slide the blade downward (toward the bottom of the arm) to unhook it, then remove it completely.

Step 3: Install the new blade

  • Compare the new blade to the old one to confirm length: 26" driver, 16" passenger.
  • Align the new blade’s connector with the wiper arm hook.
  • Slide it into place until you hear/feel a solid click.
  • Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s locked on.

Step 4: Lower the arm and repeat on the other side

  • Carefully lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield.
  • Repeat Steps 1–3 for the passenger-side blade.
  • Remove the microfiber towel when finished.

āœ… After Repair

  • Turn the ignition ON and briefly run the wipers on low speed.
  • Spray washer fluid and confirm both blades wipe cleanly with no skipping.
  • If you see streaks, wipe the windshield edge where the blades park using a clean microfiber towel.
