đź“‹ Before You Begin
- đźš— Park on level ground, turn ignition OFF, and remove the key.
- Lift the wiper arms carefully. If an arm won’t lift high enough without hitting the hood, open the hood slightly for clearance.
- Put a microfiber towel on the windshield under the wiper arm area as protection.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Protect the windshield
- Use a microfiber towel to cover the glass under each wiper arm.
- Use painter’s tape to lightly mark where each blade parks on the glass (optional).
- Hold the arm any time it’s unhooked.
Step 2: Raise the driver-side wiper arm
- Use work gloves and lift the wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
Step 3: Remove the old blade (choose the connector type you have)
- If you see a small push button on the connector: press it with your thumb (use work gloves) and slide the blade down and off the hook.
- If you see a pinch tab on the sides: squeeze the tabs with your fingers (use work gloves) and slide the blade off the arm.
- If it’s tight, gently wiggle the blade while sliding—don’t twist the wiper arm.
Step 4: Install the new blade
- Compare the new blade to the old one to ensure the length matches before installing.
- Slide the new blade onto the arm connector until you hear/feel a click (use work gloves).
- Gently tug on the blade to confirm it’s locked in.
Step 5: Lower the driver-side arm carefully
- Lower the arm back to the windshield slowly (use work gloves), keeping control so it doesn’t snap down.
Step 6: Repeat on the passenger side
- Repeat Steps 2–5 for the passenger-side blade (use work gloves and microfiber towel).
Step 7: Clean the glass and test
- Remove the microfiber towel and painter’s tape.
- Use a clean section of the microfiber towel to wipe the windshield where the blades sweep.
- Turn ignition ON and briefly test the wipers with washer fluid.
âś… After Repair
- âś… Confirm both blades sweep smoothly without skipping or chattering.
- ✅ If there’s streaking, clean the windshield again and re-check that each blade clicked fully into place.
- âś… Recheck that both arms are fully lowered to their normal parked position.
