🔧 Camry - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
You’ll be removing the old wiper blade assemblies from the wiper arms and snapping new blades in place. Fresh blades restore clear vision in rain and reduce streaking and chatter.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the car OFF and keep the wiper switch OFF before starting.
- ⚠️ Do not let a bare wiper arm snap onto the glass; it can crack the windshield.
- ⚠️ Support the wiper arm with one hand while removing/installing the blade.
- Battery disconnect is not required.

You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Safety glasses
- Nitrile gloves

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and switch the car OFF.
- Wipe the windshield edge clean with a clean shop towel so dirt doesn’t get dragged under the new blades.
- Apply masking tape on the windshield near each blade tip as a reference point (helps you reinstall straight).
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the wiper arms safely
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
- Place a clean shop towel on the glass under the arm area as extra protection.
Step 2: Remove the old driver-side wiper blade
- Hold the wiper arm with one hand so it can’t spring back.
- At the center where the blade connects to the arm, locate the small locking tab on the adapter.
- Press the tab in (use your fingers; if it’s tight, gently help with a small flathead screwdriver).
- While holding the tab, slide the blade assembly down and off the hook-style arm.
- Keep the arm controlled the whole time.
Step 3: Install the new driver-side wiper blade
- Confirm you’re using the 26" blade.
- Align the new blade’s adapter with the hook on the arm.
- Slide it into place until you hear/feel a click.
- Gently tug on the blade to confirm it’s locked.
Step 4: Repeat for the passenger-side blade
- Lift the passenger wiper arm.
- Remove the old blade the same way (press tab, slide off), using the small flathead screwdriver only if needed.
- Install the new 18" blade until it clicks, then tug-test it.
Step 5: Lower the wiper arms back onto the glass
- Carefully lower each arm down by hand—don’t drop it.
- Remove the masking tape from the windshield.
âś… After Repair
- Start the car and run the front washers for 2–3 wipes to confirm smooth, streak-free operation.
- If the blades chatter, clean the windshield with glass cleaner and wipe the blade rubber with a clean shop towel.
- Recheck that both blades are fully clicked/locked if one looks crooked or doesn’t wipe evenly.
