🔧 Front Windshield Wiper Blades - Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades on your F-150 is a quick maintenance job. The old blades simply unclip from the wiper arms and the new ones snap into place. Fresh blades restore clear visibility in rain and reduce streaking and chatter.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Keep the wiper arms from snapping back onto the windshield. They can crack glass.
  • Work with the ignition off and the wipers fully stopped.
  • If the arms are lifted away from the glass, lower them gently after the blade swap.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Gloves
  • Clean towel

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blade set - Driver: 22", Passenger: 22" - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and turn the ignition off.
  • Set the parking brake.
  • Lift one wiper arm at a time and rest it carefully if needed.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the wiper arm

  • Lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays in the raised position.
  • Use your hand only. Keep a firm grip so the arm does not snap back.
  • Place a towel on the glass for extra protection.

Step 2: Remove the old blade

  • Look at the connector where the blade meets the arm.
  • Press the release tab and slide the old blade down and off the arm.
  • If it feels stuck, gently wiggle the blade while holding the arm steady.

Step 3: Install the new blade

  • Slide the new 22" blade onto the arm until it clicks into place.
  • Pull lightly on the blade to make sure it is locked on.
  • Use your hand only. No special tool is needed.

Step 4: Repeat on the passenger side

  • Repeat the same removal and installation steps for the passenger-side wiper blade.
  • Make sure the passenger blade is also fully locked before lowering the arm.

Step 5: Lower the wiper arms carefully

  • Slowly lower both arms back onto the windshield.
  • Do not let them drop onto the glass.
  • Lower them one at a time.

✅ After Repair

  • Turn the wipers on and check for smooth movement.
  • Spray windshield washer fluid and confirm both blades clear the glass evenly.
  • Listen for skipping, squeaking, or chatter.
