🔧 Front Windshield Wiper Blades - Replacement

The front wiper blades on your CR-V are quick to replace and usually take just a few minutes. Fresh blades improve wet-weather visibility and help prevent streaking, skipping, and chatter on the windshield.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off and make sure the wipers are fully parked before starting.
  • Keep the wiper arms from snapping back against the glass; they can crack the windshield.
  • If the arms are lifted away from the windshield, hold them securely while removing the blades.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Clean microfiber towel
  • Safety glasses
  • Gloves

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blade - Driver: 26", Passenger: 16" - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground with the parking brake set.
  • Turn the ignition off.
  • Lift the wiper arms gently away from the windshield if needed.
  • Use a towel to protect the glass.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the wiper arm

  • Use your hand to raise the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
  • Place a clean microfiber towel on the glass under the arm for protection.

Step 2: Remove the old blade

  • Find the small release tab where the blade connects to the wiper arm.
  • Press the tab in with your fingers and slide the blade downward to unhook it.
  • Remove the blade carefully so the metal arm does not hit the glass.

Step 3: Install the new blade

  • Align the new 26-inch front wiper blade with the hook on the wiper arm.
  • Slide it up into place until you hear or feel it click.
  • Pull lightly on the blade to confirm it is locked.

Step 4: Replace the passenger blade

  • Repeat the same process on the passenger side using the 16-inch front wiper blade.
  • Make sure both blades sit flat and face the correct direction.

Step 5: Test the wipers

  • Lower both wiper arms onto the windshield.
  • Turn the ignition on and run the wipers with washer fluid once to check operation.
  • Confirm both blades clear the glass smoothly with no streaking or skipping.

✅ After Repair

  • Check both blades for even contact across the windshield.
  • Test washer spray and make sure the blades return to the parked position.
  • If either blade chatters, recheck that it is fully locked in place.
