🔧 Grand Cherokee - Front Wiper Blade Replacement
You’ll remove the old wiper blade assemblies from the front wiper arms and snap on new ones. Wiper blades wear out and can smear, chatter, or leave streaks, which reduces visibility and safety.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- 🛑 Turn ignition OFF and remove the key fob from the vehicle.
- 🛑 Support the wiper arm so it doesn’t snap back onto the glass (it can crack the windshield).
- 🛑 Keep fingers clear of the hinge area on the wiper arm (pinch point).
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Microfiber towel
- Nitrile gloves
- Safety glasses

- Windshield washer fluid - Qty: 1 gallon
đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park your Grand Cherokee on level ground and turn the ignition OFF.
- Place a microfiber towel on the windshield where the wiper arm could touch. Extra protection if it snaps down.
- If your replacement blades came with multiple adapters, choose the one that matches the factory connector on your wiper arm before you start.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the wiper arms
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Carefully lift one front wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
- Lay a microfiber towel on the glass under the arm.
Step 2: Remove the old wiper blade
- Hold the wiper arm firmly with your hand.
- At the middle of the blade where it meets the arm, find the small release tab/clip.
- Press the tab with your thumb, then slide the blade downward (toward the base of the arm) to unhook it from the arm.
- If it’s tight, wiggle the blade gently while keeping the tab pressed. Don’t force the arm sideways.
Step 3: Install the new wiper blade
- Compare the new blade to the old one to confirm similar length and connector style.
- Slide the new blade onto the arm’s connector until it clicks/locks.
- Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s fully latched.
Step 4: Lower the wiper arm safely
- Remove the microfiber towel.
- Lower the wiper arm slowly back onto the windshield.
Step 5: Repeat for the other side
- Repeat Steps 1–4 for the other front wiper blade.
âś… After Repair
- Top off windshield washer fluid if needed.
- Start the vehicle and run the washers for 2–3 seconds, then cycle the wipers.
- Check that both blades wipe smoothly with no streaks and don’t hit the cowl (plastic panel at the base of the windshield).
