🔧 F-250 Super Duty - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement

You’ll remove the old wiper blades from the front wiper arms and snap on new ones. Fresh blades restore clear visibility and reduce streaking, chatter, and skipping.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

Assumption: Your A4 uses standard J-hook style front wiper arms and 28" blades.

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • ⚠️ Keep a firm grip on the wiper arm so it doesn’t snap onto the glass.
  • ⚠️ Do not turn the wipers on while a blade is removed.
  • ⚠️ Work on a cool windshield out of direct heat if possible.
  • Battery disconnect is not required.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Small step stool
  • Masking tape
  • Microfiber towel

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 28", Passenger: 28" - Qty: 2
  • Windshield washer fluid - Qty: 1 gallon

đź“‹ Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and switch the ignition OFF.
  • Lift each wiper arm away from the windshield until it holds itself up.
  • Put a microfiber towel on the glass under the arm as a cushion.
  • Use masking tape to mark where each blade rests on the glass.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift and protect the wiper arm

  • Put on safety glasses and nitrile gloves.
  • Use a small step stool if needed to reach comfortably.
  • Lift the wiper arm up and place a microfiber towel on the windshield under it.
  • Never let the bare arm hit the glass.

Step 2: Remove the old wiper blade from the J-hook

  • Hold the wiper arm firmly with one hand.
  • With your other hand, rotate the blade so it’s roughly perpendicular to the arm.
  • Press the blade’s small release tab/clip (built into the blade connector) and slide the blade down and off the J-hook.
  • If it’s stuck, wiggle while pressing the tab.

Step 3: Install the new wiper blade

  • Open the new blade package and confirm it’s the correct length.
  • Slide the new blade connector onto the J-hook until it clicks into place.
  • Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s locked on the hook.
  • A click + tug test prevents highway fly-offs.

Step 4: Lower the arm carefully

  • Remove the microfiber towel.
  • Lower the wiper arm down slowly onto the windshield—don’t let it drop.
  • Use your masking tape marks to confirm the blade parks in the same spot.

Step 5: Repeat on the other side

  • Repeat Steps 1–4 for the other front wiper blade.

âś… After Repair

  • Top off washer fluid if needed.
  • Start the truck and run the washers, then run wipers on low speed.
  • Check for streaks, missed areas, or a blade that looks “twisted” (not sitting flat).
  • If a blade chatters, clean the windshield with glass cleaner and a clean towel.
