🔧 Accord - Front Wiper Blade Replacement

Your Accord’s front wiper blades are the rubber strips that clear rain from the windshield. Replacing them restores visibility and prevents streaks, skipping, and windshield scratching from worn rubber.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • ⚠️ Don’t let the wiper arm snap onto the glass; it can crack the windshield.
  • ⚠️ Keep fingers clear of the hinge; it can pinch when the arm moves.
  • ⚠️ No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Small flathead screwdriver
  • Clean microfiber towel

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 26", Passenger: 19" - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and turn the ignition off.
  • Lift each wiper arm up and place a clean microfiber towel on the windshield under the arm as a cushion.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift and support the wiper arms

  • Lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
  • Place a clean microfiber towel under the arm on the glass.
  • Repeat for the passenger side.

Step 2: Remove the old driver-side wiper blade

  • Rotate the blade so it’s perpendicular to the wiper arm (makes the latch easier to access).
  • Find the small locking tab at the blade-to-arm connection.
  • Press the tab by hand; if it’s stubborn, gently help it with a small flathead screwdriver. Don’t pry hard; it should release.
  • While holding the tab, slide the blade down and off the hook on the arm.

Step 3: Install the new driver-side wiper blade (26")

  • Confirm you have the 26" blade for the driver side.
  • Slide the new blade onto the hook until you hear/feel a click.
  • Gently tug on the blade to confirm it’s locked.

Step 4: Remove and replace the passenger-side blade (19")

  • Repeat the same release-and-slide-off process using your hands or the small flathead screwdriver if needed.
  • Install the new 19" blade and confirm it clicks/locks in place.

Step 5: Lower the arms carefully

  • Remove the clean microfiber towel.
  • Lower each arm back onto the windshield slowly by hand (don’t let it drop).

✅ After Repair

  • Spray windshield washer fluid and run the wipers for 10–15 seconds to confirm smooth, streak-free wiping.
  • If a blade chatters, clean the windshield and the rubber edge with a damp microfiber towel, then retest.
  • Make sure both blades park at the bottom of the windshield normally.
