- Park on level ground and make sure the wiper switch is OFF.
- Place a microfiber towel on the lower windshield where the wiper arm could fall.
- Unbox the new blades and confirm they include a J-hook adapter (the hook-shaped wiper arm connection).
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the wiper arms
- Put on mechanic gloves and safety glasses.
- Lift one wiper arm up and away from the windshield until it stays up on its own.
- Keep the microfiber towel on the glass underneath. It prevents accidental glass damage.
Step 2: Remove the old wiper blade (J-hook)
- Hold the wiper arm with one hand so it canāt spring back.
- With your other hand, rotate the blade so itās roughly perpendicular to the arm.
- Find the small release tab/clip where the blade meets the hook, then press it with your thumb and slide the blade down and off the hook.
- If itās stuck, wiggle the blade while keeping the tab pressed.
Step 3: Install the new wiper blade
- Confirm the new blade has the correct J-hook adapter installed (most come pre-installed).
- Slide the new bladeās connector onto the hook until it clicks/locks.
- Gently tug on the blade to confirm itās fully latched.
Step 4: Lower the wiper arm carefully
