šŸ”§ Town & Country - Front Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades restores clear visibility in rain and helps prevent windshield scratching from worn rubber. On your Town & Country, the blades clip onto the wiper arms and can be swapped in a few minutes.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

Assumption: Most Town & Country setups use Driver 26" and Passenger 20" front blades with a J-hook style arm.

āš ļø Safety & Precautions

  • āš ļø Keep the wiper arms from snapping onto the glass—metal on glass can crack the windshield.
  • āš ļø Work with the ignition OFF and wipers switched OFF.
  • āš ļø Use a towel on the windshield as a cushion while you work.
  • āš ļø No battery disconnect is required for this job.

šŸ”§ Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Mechanic gloves
  • Microfiber towel
  • Painter’s tape
  • Small flat-blade screwdriver

šŸ”© Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 26", Passenger: 20" - Qty: 2

šŸ“‹ Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and turn the wipers OFF.
  • Place a microfiber towel on the lower windshield area as protection.
  • Optional: Put a short strip of painter’s tape on the glass to mark where each blade normally rests.

šŸ”Ø Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift and secure the wiper arm

  • Put on mechanic gloves and safety glasses.
  • Gently lift one wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up on its own.
  • Keep the microfiber towel on the glass underneath. This protects the windshield if it drops.

Step 2: Release the old blade from the J-hook

  • Rotate the wiper blade so it sits about 90° to the wiper arm (makes the clip easier to access).
  • Find the small locking tab where the blade connects to the hook.
  • Press the locking tab with your thumb; if it’s stubborn, gently press it with a small flat-blade screwdriver (do not pry hard).
  • Slide the blade down and off the hook to remove it.

Step 3: Install the new blade

  • Compare the new blade length to the old one before installing.
  • Slide the new blade’s connector onto the hook until it clicks/locks.
  • Gently tug on the blade to confirm it’s fully latched. A loose blade can fly off.

Step 4: Lower the wiper arm carefully

  • Hold the arm with your hand and slowly lower it back onto the windshield.
  • Remove the microfiber towel and repeat Steps 1–4 for the other side.

Step 5: Function check

  • Start the vehicle and spray washer fluid.
  • Run the wipers for 5–10 seconds and confirm there’s no skipping, streaking, or chatter.

āœ… After Repair

  • Clean the windshield with glass cleaner and a fresh towel for best wiping performance.
  • If the wipers streak, re-check that each blade is fully clicked into the hook.
  • No scan tool, calibration, or resets are required.

šŸ’° DIY vs Shop Cost

Shop Cost: ₹1,000-₹3,000 (parts + labor)
