🔧 Altima - Front Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades is a quick job: you’ll lift each wiper arm, remove the old blade from the arm, and snap the new blade on. New blades restore clear vision and reduce streaking and chatter.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 10-20 minutes

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • ⚠️ Don’t let a bare wiper arm snap onto the windshield; it can crack the glass.
  • ⚠️ Work with the engine OFF and wipers OFF (stalk in OFF position).
  • ⚠️ Place a towel on the cowl/windshield area as protection while you work.
  • Battery disconnect is not required.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Clean shop towel
  • Flathead screwdriver (small)
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Safety glasses

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades (match your current blade lengths) - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and turn the wiper switch to OFF.
  • Lay a clean shop towel at the base of the windshield as a safety cushion.
  • If unsure on sizes, read them off old blades.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the driver-side wiper arm

  • Use your hand to lift the wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
  • Keep the clean shop towel on the glass below the arm.

Step 2: Find the release tab/clip on the blade connector

  • Look where the blade meets the end of the wiper arm.
  • If the release tab is tight, gently help it with a flathead screwdriver (small). Don’t pry on the glass.

Step 3: Remove the old blade

  • Press the release tab with your fingers (or the flathead screwdriver (small) if needed).
  • Slide the blade down and away from the hook/connector to unhook it, then pull it off the arm.
  • Carefully lower the bare arm onto the clean shop towel (do not let it snap down).

Step 4: Install the new blade

  • Remove packaging from the new blade by hand.
  • Hook the new blade into the wiper arm connector the same way the old one came off.
  • Push/slide it until you hear or feel a click (that means it’s locked).
  • Gently tug the blade with your hand to confirm it’s fully latched.

Step 5: Lower the arm and repeat on the passenger side

  • Lift the arm slightly, remove the clean shop towel, then lower the arm onto the windshield gently.
  • Repeat Steps 1–4 for the passenger-side blade.

Step 6: Quick function check

  • Put on safety glasses and sit in the driver seat.
  • Spray washer fluid and run the wipers for a few passes to confirm smooth wiping.

✅ After Repair

  • Verify both blades wipe cleanly with no streaks or skipping.
  • If a blade chatters, clean the windshield and blade rubber with a damp towel.
  • Re-check that each blade is fully clicked/locked onto the arm.
