🔧 Altima - Front Wiper Blade Replacement
Replacing the front wiper blades is a quick job that restores clear visibility and helps prevent streaking or skipping in rain. On your Altima, the blades attach to the wiper arms with a simple locking tab.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key before lifting wiper arms.
- ⚠️ Do not let the wiper arm snap onto the windshield; it can crack the glass.
- ⚠️ Support the wiper arm with a towel on the windshield while the blade is off.
- ⚠️ Battery disconnect is not required for this repair.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, set the parking brake, and make sure wipers are in their normal “parked” position.
- Place a microfiber towel on the windshield under each wiper arm to protect the glass.
- Tip: Replace both blades together.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the wiper arm
- Put on work gloves and safety glasses.
- Gently lift one wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up on its own.
- Keep the microfiber towel under the arm as a safety cushion.
Step 2: Locate the locking tab
- Rotate the blade so you can see where it connects to the arm (the “hook” style connector is common on the Altima).
- Find the small plastic locking tab (a little catch that holds the blade on).
- If the tab is stiff, gently assist with a small flat-blade screwdriver (do not pry hard).
Step 3: Remove the old blade
- Press the locking tab with your thumb (or the small flat-blade screwdriver lightly).
- While holding the tab, slide the blade down and out of the hook (it will unclip and come free).
- Set the old blade aside.
Step 4: Install the new blade
- Compare the new blade to the old one to ensure the connector style matches.
- Slide the new blade into the hook and pull it upward until it clicks into place.
- Gently tug on the blade to confirm it’s locked.
Step 5: Lower the wiper arm carefully
- Remove the microfiber towel.
- Slowly lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield.
Step 6: Repeat on the other side
- Repeat Steps 1–5 for the other front wiper blade.
✅ After Repair
- Start the car and test the wipers on LOW, then HIGH.
- Use the washer fluid and confirm both blades wipe cleanly without streaks or chatter.
- If a blade streaks, clean the windshield with glass cleaner and wipe the rubber edge with a damp towel.
