🔧 Canyon - Front Wiper Blade Replacement
Replacing the front wiper blades on your Canyon is a quick job: you’ll lift the wiper arms, release the old blades from the J-hook connector, and click the new blades on. Fresh blades improve visibility and reduce streaking and chatter.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key/fob from the truck before starting.
- ⚠️ Do not let the wiper arm snap onto the windshield; it can crack the glass.
- ⚠️ If the windshield is dry, avoid running the wipers—dry wiping can scratch glass.
- ⚠️ Battery disconnect is not required.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and turn the ignition OFF.
- Have a microfiber towel ready to lay on the windshield as protection.
- Confirm your new blades match the old ones in length before installing.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift and protect the wiper arm
- Place a microfiber towel on the lower windshield where the arm could touch.
- Lift the wiper arm away from the glass until it stays up on its hinge.
- Hold the arm—don’t let it spring back.
Step 2: Release the blade from the J-hook
- Look at where the blade connects to the arm. Your Canyon uses a common J-hook (a hook-shaped end of the wiper arm).
- Press the small release tab on the blade connector with your fingers.
- If it’s stubborn, gently help the tab with a small flathead screwdriver (don’t pry hard).
- Slide the blade down toward the base of the arm to unhook it, then remove it.
Step 3: Install the new blade
- Hook the new blade connector onto the wiper arm’s J-hook.
- Pull the blade upward until you hear/feel a solid “click” as it locks.
- Lightly tug on the blade to confirm it’s locked on the arm.
Step 4: Lower the arm carefully
- Guide the wiper arm back down to the windshield by hand.
- Remove the microfiber towel and repeat Steps 1–4 for the other side.
Step 5: Test operation
- Spray washer fluid, then run the wipers on low speed briefly to confirm smooth, quiet wiping.
- If a blade chatters or streaks, re-check that it fully clicked into the J-hook.
✅ After Repair
- Test both wipers at low and high speed with washer fluid.
- Wipe the windshield edge where the blades park using a clean microfiber towel.
- If skipping persists, clean the windshield with glass cleaner and re-test.
