🔧 Front Wiper Blade Replacement

Your Silverado uses hook-style front wiper arms, so this is a quick replacement once you have the correct blade sizes. You’ll remove each old blade, snap the new ones onto the arms, then test the sweep to make sure they sit flat and clear the glass cleanly.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off before starting so the wipers do not move unexpectedly.
  • Keep the wiper arms from snapping back onto the glass. The metal arm can crack the windshield.
  • If the wiper arms lift away from the glass easily, support them with one hand while changing blades.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this job.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Clean microfiber towel
  • Safety glasses
  • Gloves

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blade, driver side 22 inch - Qty: 1
  • Front wiper blade, passenger side 22 inch - Qty: 1

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on a flat surface and turn the ignition off.
  • Set the parking brake.
  • Raise one wiper arm at a time so it stays away from the glass.
  • Place a towel on the windshield edge.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the first wiper arm

  • Lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
  • Use a clean microfiber towel under the arm if you want extra protection for the glass.

Step 2: Remove the old blade

  • Find the small release tab where the blade connects to the hook-shaped arm.
  • Press the release tab by hand and slide the blade downward to unhook it.
  • Pull the old blade off the arm.

Step 3: Install the new driver-side blade

  • Take the 22 inch front wiper blade and line up the connector with the wiper arm hook.
  • Use your hand to slide the blade into the hook until it clicks into place.
  • Gently tug on the blade to make sure it is locked.

Step 4: Repeat on the passenger side

  • Lift the passenger-side wiper arm.
  • Remove the old blade by pressing the release tab and sliding it off the hook.
  • Install the new 22 inch front wiper blade the same way.
  • Make sure it clicks fully into the arm.

Step 5: Lower the arms carefully

  • Set each wiper arm back onto the windshield gently.
  • Do not let the arm drop onto the glass.
  • Lower it by hand, not by letting go.

✅ After Repair

  • Turn the ignition on and spray washer fluid to test both blades.
  • Check that the blades sweep smoothly and do not chatter or skip.
  • Make sure both blades park in the correct position at the bottom of the windshield.
  • If one blade streaks, confirm it is fully locked onto the arm.
