🔧 Front Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades on your Silverado is a quick maintenance job that keeps visibility clear in rain and road spray. The blades use a simple hook-style attachment, so this is an easy no-special-tools repair.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off before lifting or moving the wiper arms.
  • Carefully support each wiper arm so it does not snap back onto the windshield.
  • Do not let the bare wiper arm rest on the glass.
  • If the blades are frozen to the windshield, gently free them first so the arm does not bend.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Gloves
  • Step stool or small ladder

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blade, passenger side 22" - Qty: 1

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and switch the ignition off.
  • Set the parking brake.
  • Lift one wiper arm at a time so it does not snap back.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the driver-side wiper arm

  • Use your hand to lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
  • Keep a firm grip on the arm so it does not spring back.
  • Place a towel on the glass for protection.

Step 2: Remove the old driver-side blade

  • Find the small release tab where the blade connects to the hook-shaped arm.
  • Use your fingers to press the tab and slide the blade downward off the arm.
  • Remove the blade completely and set it aside.

Step 3: Install the new driver-side blade

  • Use the new 22" driver-side blade and align the hook with the blade connector.
  • Slide the blade up onto the arm until it clicks into place.
  • Gently tug the blade to make sure it is locked in.

Step 4: Repeat on the passenger side

  • Lift the passenger-side wiper arm using your hand.
  • Use your fingers to press the release tab and slide the old blade off.
  • Install the new 22" passenger-side blade and make sure it clicks securely.

Step 5: Lower both wiper arms carefully

  • Lower each arm back onto the windshield slowly.
  • Do not drop the arm onto the glass.
  • Make sure both blades sit flat against the windshield.

✅ After Repair

  • Turn the wipers on and test both blades with washer fluid.
  • Check that the blades sweep smoothly and do not chatter or skip.
  • If one blade streaks, recheck that it is fully locked on the arm.
