Difficulty Level: Intermediate | Estimated Time: 2-4 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Support the window glass before unbolting the regulator so the glass does not drop.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable before unplugging door harness connectors.
- Be careful around sharp door panel edges and the moisture barrier inside the door.
- If your truck has power windows, keep hands clear of the regulator tracks while testing.

- Use a flat-blade screwdriver or your fingers to carefully peel back the barrier.
- Keep it clean so it can be reused or resealed with new butyl tape.
Step 3: Secure the glass
- Raise the window glass by hand if needed and tape it to the door frame with tape.
- If the glass is already down, hold it steady while accessing the regulator.
- Do not let the glass hang free.
Step 4: Remove the old regulator
- Use a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove the regulator mounting bolts.
- Unbolt the glass from the regulator carrier using the same 10mm socket.
- Disconnect the regulator motor electrical connector.
- Carefully work the regulator assembly out through the large access opening in the door.
Step 5: Install the new regulator
- Feed the new regulator into the door opening.
- Connect the motor plug.
- Start all mounting bolts by hand with a 10mm socket.
- Attach the glass to the regulator carrier and make sure it sits fully in the clamps.
- Torque to factory specification.
Step 6: Test the window before reassembly

- Use the window switch to move the glass up and down.

- Hang the door panel on the top edge first, then press the clips in.
