🔧 Seltos - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your Seltos front turn signals use a removable bulb/socket (on halogen-equipped headlights). You’ll access the back of the headlamp from inside the front wheel-well area, swap the bulb, then confirm the blink rate is normal.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and switch all lights OFF before starting.
- ⚠️ Let the headlamp area cool if lights were on (hot bulb/housing).
- ⚠️ Don’t touch the new bulb glass with bare fingers (oil can shorten bulb life); use gloves.
- ⚠️ If your Seltos has LED front turn signals, there may be no replaceable “bulb” (the lamp/module or headlamp assembly is serviced instead).
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Nitrile gloves
- Safety glasses
- Trim clip removal tool
- Phillips screwdriver #2
- 10mm socket
- 1/4" ratchet
- Flashlight
🔩 Required Parts
HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:
- Front turn signal bulb (amber) - Replace in pairs - Qty: 2
- Replacement plastic push-clips (fender liner) - Qty: 2-6
📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Turn the steering wheel fully away from the side you’re working on (gives more hand room in the wheel well).
- Have your new bulb ready, but don’t open the package until you’re ready to install it.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm you have a replaceable bulb
- Use a flashlight and look behind the headlamp through the wheel-well access area.
- If you see a round twist-lock socket with wires going to it, you have a serviceable bulb.
- If you do not see a bulb socket and the turn signal appears to be an LED strip/module, stop here (it may not be a bulb replacement).
Step 2: Open the wheel-well access
- Wear safety glasses and nitrile gloves.
- Use a trim clip removal tool to remove the plastic push-clips holding the front section of the fender liner.
- If equipped with screws, remove them using a Phillips screwdriver #2 (and/or 10mm socket with a 1/4" ratchet depending on fastener style).
- Pull the liner back just enough to reach the back of the headlamp. Don’t crease the liner hard.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Locate the turn signal socket on the back of the headlamp (usually the outer/lower area of the housing).
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand to unlock it, then pull it straight out.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket (wiggle gently if tight).
- Match the bulb type by reading the number printed on the old bulb base, and install the same type new bulb.
- Push the new bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
- If you accidentally touch the glass, wipe it clean with alcohol and a lint-free cloth before installing.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket and liner
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp and twist clockwise until it locks.
- Reposition the fender liner and reinstall all clips/screws using the trim clip removal tool, Phillips screwdriver #2, and/or 10mm socket with 1/4" ratchet.
Step 6: Repeat on the other side
- Turn the steering wheel fully the other direction and repeat Steps 2–5 for the other front turn signal.
- Replace bulbs in pairs for color match.
✅ After Repair
- Turn ignition ON and test left/right turn signals and hazards.
- Verify the blink rate is normal (fast blinking usually means a bulb isn’t seated or isn’t the correct type).
- Walk around the front of your Seltos and confirm both sides are equally bright and the same amber color.
