šŸ”§ Palisade - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

On your Palisade, the ā€œfront turn signalā€ can be either a replaceable bulb (twist-out socket) or an LED unit that’s built into the lamp and not serviced as a bulb. The steps below help you confirm which type you have and then replace it the correct way.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-1.0 hours

āš ļø Safety & Precautions

  • āš ļø Turn the lights OFF and remove the key/fob from the vehicle.
  • āš ļø Let the headlamp area cool before reaching behind it.
  • āš ļø Don’t touch a halogen bulb’s glass with bare fingers (skin oil shortens bulb life).
  • āš ļø If you raise the vehicle, support it with jack stands (never rely on a jack).

šŸ”§ Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Nitrile gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Flashlight
  • Plastic trim clip tool
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 10mm socket
  • 1/4" ratchet
  • Floor jack (rated 3-ton minimum)
  • Jack stands (rated 3-ton minimum)
  • Wheel chocks

šŸ”© Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front turn signal bulb (match the bulb you remove) - Qty: 2
  • Plastic push clips (fender liner/undercover, optional) - Qty: 2-6

šŸ“‹ Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Turn the steering wheel fully away from the side you’re working on (gives more room at the fender liner).
  • If you plan to lift the front corner, place wheel chocks at the rear wheels first.

šŸ”Ø Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Confirm whether yours is a bulb or LED

  • Open the hood and use a flashlight to look behind the headlamp for a round twist-lock socket with wires going to it.
  • If you see a twist-lock socket, you likely have a replaceable bulb—continue to Step 2.
  • If you do NOT see any removable socket for the turn signal area, your Palisade may use an LED turn signal unit (no bulb). Skip to Step 7.

Step 2: Create access (wheel-well method)

  • Turn the steering wheel fully to the opposite side to open up space at the fender liner.
  • If space is still tight, lift that front corner using a floor jack (rated 3-ton minimum) and support it with jack stands (rated 3-ton minimum).

Step 3: Pull back the front fender liner

  • Use a plastic trim clip tool to pop out the plastic push-clips at the front edge of the fender liner.
  • If equipped, remove any small screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
  • Gently pull the liner back just enough to reach the rear of the headlamp. Don’t crease the liner.

Step 4: Remove the turn signal bulb socket

  • Reach behind the headlamp and find the turn signal socket (a round plastic base with wires).
  • Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand to unlock it, then pull it straight out.

Step 5: Replace the bulb

  • Wear nitrile gloves.
  • Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket (most are push-in style).
  • Install the new bulb by pushing it straight into the socket until fully seated.
  • If the bulb is halogen, avoid touching the glass; if you do, wipe it with clean alcohol and let it dry.

Step 6: Reinstall and test

  • Reinsert the socket into the headlamp and twist clockwise until it locks.
  • Turn the ignition ON and test left/right turn signals and hazards.
  • Reposition the liner and reinstall clips/screws using the plastic trim clip tool and Phillips screwdriver.

Step 7: If your Palisade has LED front turn signals (no bulb)

  • If the turn signal is LED, it’s typically serviced as a lamp/module (not a bulb).
  • Before buying parts, confirm the failed side by checking hazards and any dash warning messages.
  • If you want, send a photo of the back of the headlamp area (from the engine bay and from the wheel well) and tell me which side (left or right) is out, and I’ll point you to the exact serviceable part path for your Palisade.

āœ… After Repair

  • Verify turn signals work at normal speed on both sides (fast flashing usually means a bulb/circuit issue).
  • Make sure the fender liner is fully secured so it can’t rub the tire.
  • Recheck operation at night to confirm brightness and color match side-to-side.

šŸ’° DIY vs Shop Cost
