š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Turn the steering wheel straight and pop the hood.
- Have your flashlight ready so you can see behind the headlight.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm which side is out
- Turn on the hazard lights and walk around the front.
- Turn hazards OFF and remove the key again before working.
- Use a flashlight to locate the rear of the headlight housing on the side youāre replacing.
Step 2: Find the turn signal bulb socket behind the headlight
- Reach behind the headlight from the engine bay (this is tight, but doable).
- Use a flashlight to identify the turn signal socket (itās a twist-lock socket going into the headlight).
- Tip: Compare to the other side if unsure.
Step 3: Remove the bulb socket
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Grip the socket body (not the wires).
- Twist the socket counterclockwise about 1/4 turn, then pull it straight out.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Push the new front turn signal bulb (amber) straight into the socket until fully seated.
- If the bulb is glass, avoid touching the glass with bare fingers; keep nitrile gloves on.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Line up the socket tabs with the headlight housing.
- Push the socket in, then twist clockwise about 1/4 turn until it locks.
- If it wonāt lock easily, remove it and re-alignādonāt force it.
Step 6: Repeat on the other side (recommended)
- Replace the other front turn signal bulb the same way.
- Tip: Bulbs age togetherāpairs match brightness.

- Turn on hazards and confirm both front turn signals flash normally.
- Turn on left and right turn signals and verify the dash indicator flashes at a normal speed.
- If it still flashes fast, re-check bulb seating and that you installed the correct amber turn-signal bulb type for your Santa Fe XL.
