How to Replace Front Turn Signal Bulbs on a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse (Wheel-Well Access)
Step-by-step bulb/socket check, tool and part list, safety tips, and what to do if your Traverse has sealed LED headlamps

š§ Traverse - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
On your Traverse, the front turn signal is inside the headlamp assembly. Most LS models use a replaceable amber bulb, accessed from behind the headlamp (usually through the front wheel-well liner).

ā ļø Safety & Precautions

- ā ļø Battery disconnect is not required for this bulb replacement.

š© Required Parts
HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

- Replacement push clips for fender liner (optional) - Qty: 2-6
š Before You Begin
- Turn the steering wheel fully away from the side youāre working on (gives more room).
- Set the parking brake and place wheel chocks behind the rear tires.
- If youāre doing both sides, plan to do one side at a time so you donāt mix up clips.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm you have a replaceable bulb
- Turn the turn signal on briefly, then turn the ignition OFF.
- Use a flashlight to look behind the headlamp from the wheel-well area.
- If you find a twist-out plastic socket with wires going to it, you have a replaceable bulb.
- If there is no bulb socket and the lamp is a sealed LED unit, skip to Step 8.
Step 2: Open access at the front wheel-well liner
- Wear safety glasses and nitrile gloves.
- Use a 7mm socket with a 1/4" ratchet and extension to remove the small screws along the front edge of the wheel-well liner.
- Use a trim clip removal tool to pop out any plastic push clips in the same area.
- Pull the liner back just enough to reach behind the headlamp. Donāt crease the liner.
Step 3: Locate the front turn signal bulb socket
- Use a flashlight to find the socket going into the headlamp near the turn signal area.
- Grasp the socket body (not the wires).
Step 4: Remove the bulb socket
- Twist the socket counterclockwise about a quarter-turn, then pull it straight out.
- If it feels stuck, wiggle gently while pullingādo not force the wiring.
Step 5: Remove the old bulb
- Pull the bulb straight out of the socket.
- Check the bulb number printed on the baseāuse that to match the correct replacement.
Step 6: Install the new bulb
- Put on nitrile gloves (prevents skin oil on the bulb).
- Push the new bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
Step 7: Reinstall socket and close up the liner
- Insert the socket into the headlamp and twist clockwise to lock.
- Reposition the wheel-well liner.
- Reinstall screws using a 7mm socket and reinstall push clips using a trim clip removal tool (press clips in by hand).
Step 8: If your Traverse has a sealed LED front turn signal (no bulb)
- If there is no removable bulb/socket, the turn signal is part of the headlamp assembly (LED). The usual fix is replacing the headlamp assembly, not a bulb.
- Before buying parts, confirm by checking for a twist-out socket from behind the headlamp using a flashlight.
- If you want, tell me whether you see a twist-out socket or a sealed housing and Iāll give you the exact headlamp replacement steps.
ā After Repair
- Turn the ignition ON and test the left and right turn signals.
- Verify the turn signal flashes normally (a fast flash usually means a bulb isnāt working).
- Make sure the wheel-well liner is secured so it wonāt rub the tire.
