🔧 Murano - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
On your Murano, the front turn signal bulb sits in the back of the headlamp housing. The usual access is through the front wheel-well liner, so you can reach the bulb socket without removing the bumper or headlamp.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- 🛑 Support the vehicle with jack stands before working in the wheel well.
- 🛑 Turn the ignition OFF and lights OFF to prevent burns and short circuits.
- 🛑 Don’t touch the new bulb glass with bare fingers (skin oils can shorten bulb life).
- 🛑 Let the headlamp area cool if the lights were recently on.

📋 Before You Begin
- 🅿️ Park on a level surface and set the parking brake.
- 🔒 Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels.
- 🧰 The trim clip removal tool is a small pry tool used to pop plastic fasteners out without breaking them.
- 🔎 Decide which side you’re doing first (driver or passenger). The steps are the same.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Loosen the front wheel lug nuts
- Use a 21mm lug wrench to loosen (do not remove) the lug nuts about 1/2 turn while the tire is still on the ground.
Step 2: Jack up and support the front corner
- Use a floor jack (rated 3-ton minimum) to lift the front corner you’re working on.
- Place jack stands (rated 3-ton minimum) under a solid lift/support point and lower the vehicle onto the stands.
Step 3: Remove the front wheel
- Finish removing the lug nuts with the 21mm lug wrench, then remove the wheel.
Step 4: Open the wheel-well liner for access
- Use a trim clip removal tool to pop out the plastic push-clips along the front portion of the wheel-well liner.
- If equipped with small screws, remove them using a Phillips screwdriver.
- If there are small bolts at the edge, remove them using a ratchet and 10mm socket.
- Pull the liner back just enough to reach behind the headlamp. Don’t fully remove it unless needed.
Step 5: Locate the front turn signal bulb socket
- Use a flashlight to look behind the headlamp housing.
- Find the turn signal socket (it’s a twist-lock socket going into the headlamp).
Step 6: Remove the bulb socket and bulb
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it straight out.
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket (no twisting on most Nissan wedge-style bulbs).
Step 7: Install the new bulb
- Put on nitrile gloves before handling the new bulb.
- Push the new bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
- Reinstall the socket into the headlamp and twist clockwise until it locks.
Step 8: Test the turn signal before reassembly
- Turn the ignition ON and activate that turn signal.
- Confirm normal blink speed and brightness.
- If it doesn’t work, turn ignition OFF and re-check bulb seating and socket lock.
Step 9: Reassemble the wheel-well liner and wheel
- Reposition the liner and reinstall fasteners using the trim clip removal tool, Phillips screwdriver, and ratchet with 10mm socket as needed.
- Reinstall the wheel and hand-thread the lug nuts.
- Lower the vehicle off the jack stands (rated 3-ton minimum) using the floor jack (rated 3-ton minimum).
- Tighten lug nuts in a star pattern using the 21mm lug wrench: Torque to 133 Nm (98 ft-lbs).
✅ After Repair
- 🔁 Test left and right turn signals, and the hazard flashers.
- 🔎 Walk around the front to confirm both sides match in color and brightness.
- 🧩 If the blink rate is fast, one bulb may still be out (front, rear, or side marker).
