Step-by-step bulb swap with tools list, safety tips, access notes for both sides, and testing steps

🔧 Odyssey - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your Odyssey’s front turn signals use a bulb inside the headlight housing. The job is mostly about gaining access behind the headlight, swapping the bulb, and testing that both sides flash correctly.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key/fob from the vehicle.
- ⚠️ Let the headlight area cool before reaching in (bulbs and housings can get hot).
- ⚠️ Do not touch the new bulb’s glass with bare fingers (skin oil can shorten bulb life).
- ⚠️ Keep hands/tools clear of the radiator fans (they can turn on unexpectedly if the car is on).

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Open the hood and support it securely.
- Turn the headlight switch to OFF.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm the correct bulb location
- Turn the hazard lights ON briefly to see which front corner is out, then turn hazards OFF.
- Use a flashlight to look behind that headlight assembly from the engine bay.
- Turn signal socket is usually toward the outer side.
Step 2: Create working room (Passenger side)
- If access is tight, remove the intake snorkel/duct near the headlight.
- Use a trim clip removal tool or flat-blade screwdriver to lift the plastic clips.
- If a 10mm bolt is present, remove it with a 10mm socket, ratchet, and 6" extension.
Step 3: Create working room (Driver side)
- If access is tight, move/remove the washer fluid filler neck area (if it blocks your hand).
- Use a trim clip removal tool or flat-blade screwdriver to release any retaining clips.
- Use a 10mm socket, ratchet, and 6" extension if a 10mm fastener is used on your setup.
Step 4: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Reach behind the headlight and find the turn signal socket and wiring.
- Twist the socket counterclockwise about 1/4 turn by hand, then pull it straight out.
Step 5: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket (wiggle gently if stuck).
- Install the new front turn signal bulb (amber, 7440-type) by pressing it straight into the socket.
- Do not touch the bulb glass; if you do, wipe it with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry.
Step 6: Reinstall the socket and reassemble
- Insert the socket back into the headlight housing and twist clockwise to lock.
- Reinstall any ducts/clips you removed using the trim clip removal tool and/or 10mm socket.
Step 7: Test operation
- Turn the ignition ON and test left and right turn signals.
- Turn the hazard lights ON and verify both front signals flash at a normal speed.
✅ After Repair
- Make sure both front turn signals flash at the same (normal) rate.
- If a signal flashes fast, re-check that the bulb is fully seated and the socket is locked.
- Verify all clips/ducting are secured so nothing rubs or rattles.
