🔧 Yukon - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
On your Yukon, the front turn signal “bulb” is normally a twist-in bulb/socket at the back of the headlamp assembly. We’ll access it from under the hood, swap the bulb, and verify the flash rate is normal.
Quick check: If your Yukon has factory LED headlamps/LED front turn signals, there may be no serviceable bulb (the LED unit is replaced as an assembly/module).
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- 🛑 Turn ignition OFF and remove the key before starting.
- 🧤 Let the headlamp area cool before reaching behind it.
- 🧼 Do not touch the new bulb glass with bare fingers (skin oil can shorten bulb life).
- 🔋 Battery disconnect is not required for a basic bulb swap, but keep tools away from the battery terminals.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Nitrile gloves
- Safety glasses
- Flashlight
- Small flat trim tool

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- 🅿️ Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- 🔎 Confirm which lamp you’re replacing: front turn signal is the amber blinker in the headlamp.
- ❓Do you have factory LED headlamps/LED turn signals (no visible replaceable bulb)? If yes, tell me and I’ll switch you to the LED module/assembly path.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open access to the back of the headlamp
- Open the hood.
- Use a flashlight to locate the rear of the headlamp assembly on the side you’re working on.
Step 2: Locate the turn signal bulb socket
- Look for a round twist-lock socket going into the headlamp housing.
- If there is a small cover or wire retainer in the way, move it carefully using a small flat trim tool.
Step 3: Remove the bulb socket
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Grip the socket and rotate it counterclockwise about a quarter-turn, then pull it straight out.
- If tight, wiggle gently—don’t force.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Remove the old bulb from the socket (most pull straight out).
- Install the new front turn signal bulb (amber) into the socket.
- Do not touch the bulb glass with bare fingers (use nitrile gloves).
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
- Rotate clockwise about a quarter-turn until it locks.
- Reposition anything you moved using the small flat trim tool.
Step 6: Repeat on the other side
- Repeat Steps 1-5 for the other front turn signal.
- Pair replacement helps match brightness and color.
âś… After Repair
- ▶️ Turn the ignition ON and test left and right turn signals.
- đź‘€ Verify the flash rate is normal (very fast flashing usually indicates a bulb not seated or a bulb out).
- 🔎 If you see moisture in the headlamp later, re-check the socket is fully locked.
