🔧 Ridgeline - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your Ridgeline’s front turn signal bulb sits in the headlamp housing. Replacement usually involves reaching the bulb socket from behind the headlight (often easiest through the front wheel well) and swapping the bulb without touching the glass.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Let the headlight area cool before working (hot bulbs/housings burn).
- ⚠️ Support the truck with jack stands if you lift it—never rely on a floor jack alone.
- ⚠️ Do not touch the new bulb glass with bare fingers (skin oils shorten bulb life).
- ⚠️ Ignition OFF and lights OFF before unplugging any bulb sockets.

🔩 Required Parts
HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

- Fender liner push clips - Qty: 4-8 Optional, in case any break.
đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on a level surface, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Turn the ignition OFF and make sure the light stalk is OFF.
- Chock the rear wheels with wheel chocks.
- Turn the front wheel outward on the side you’re working on (gives more access to the fender liner).
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm the correct side and bulb
- Turn the hazard lights ON briefly, walk around, and identify which front turn signal is out.
- Turn hazards OFF and ignition OFF before you start disassembly.
Step 2: Create access at the front wheel well
- If you need more room, slightly loosen the wheel lug nuts with a 21mm socket and 1/2" drive breaker bar (do not remove yet).
- Lift the front corner with a floor jack (rated 3-ton minimum) and support it with jack stands (rated 3-ton minimum).
- Remove the wheel using a 21mm socket. Set it aside.
- Remove the front portion of the fender liner fasteners (small screws/clips) using a Phillips #2 screwdriver and trim clip removal tool.
- Peel the liner back just enough to reach the back of the headlamp. Don’t crease it sharply.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- From behind the headlamp, locate the turn signal socket (the one leading to the amber turn signal area).
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand to unlock it, then pull it straight out.
- If it’s tight, use a flat-blade screwdriver (small) gently as a helper to start the twist—do not pry hard on the housing.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Install the new front turn signal bulb (amber) by pushing it straight into the socket until fully seated.
- Wear nitrile gloves so you don’t touch the glass.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket and reassemble
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp and twist clockwise to lock.
- Reposition the fender liner and reinstall the clips/screws using a trim clip removal tool and Phillips #2 screwdriver.
- Reinstall the wheel (if removed) using a 21mm socket.
- Lower the truck and tighten lug nuts with a 1/2" drive torque wrench: Torque to 127 Nm (94 ft-lbs).
Step 6: Function check
- Turn hazards ON and verify the repaired side flashes at a normal speed and matches the other side color/brightness.
- If it “hyper-flashes” (very fast), the bulb may be wrong type or not seated fully—remove and re-seat.
âś… After Repair
- Verify left and right turn signals, hazards, and parking lights all work normally.
- Check the fender liner is secured and not rubbing the tire during steering lock-to-lock.
