🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulb - Bulb Replacement

The front turn signal bulb on your Accord is accessed from the rear of the headlamp assembly. This is a straightforward repair, but the bulb socket and surrounding parts can be tight, so take your time and avoid forcing the plastic tabs.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the lights off and let the bulb cool before touching anything.
  • Do not touch the glass part of a halogen bulb with bare fingers; oils can shorten bulb life.
  • If the bulb was recently on, use gloves because the area can be hot.
  • Keep the ignition off while working near the headlamp wiring.
  • No battery disconnect is normally required for this repair.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Trim panel tool
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 8mm socket
  • Ratchet
  • Short extension
  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front turn signal bulb - Qty: 2
  • Bulb socket O-ring - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Turn the headlight switch fully off.
  • Open the hood.
  • Replace both front turn signal bulbs at the same time if one has failed recently. Paired bulbs age together.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open access to the headlamp area

  • Use the trim panel tool and 8mm socket if needed to remove any upper air guide or cover that blocks rear headlamp access.
  • Set fasteners aside in order so they go back in the same place.

Step 2: Locate the front turn signal bulb socket

  • Find the turn signal bulb socket at the rear of the headlamp assembly.
  • The socket is the round plastic holder attached to the bulb wire connector.

Step 3: Remove the bulb socket

  • Use your hand to rotate the socket counterclockwise until it unlocks.
  • Pull the socket straight out of the headlamp housing.
  • Do not twist hard.

Step 4: Replace the bulb

  • Remove the old bulb from the socket by pulling it straight out.
  • Install the new bulb fully into the socket.
  • Make sure it sits straight and fully seated.

Step 5: Reinstall the socket

  • Align the socket tabs with the housing opening.
  • Push the socket in and rotate it clockwise until it locks.
  • If your Accord has a tight seal, use the new bulb socket O-ring if included.

Step 6: Reassemble and test

  • Reinstall any covers or air guides using the 8mm socket and Phillips screwdriver.
  • Turn the ignition on and test the turn signal.
  • Verify the front signal flashes normally and the dash indicator works.

✅ After Repair

  • Check both front signals for correct brightness and flash rate.
  • Make sure the headlamp cover or duct is fully clipped back in place.
  • If the new bulb does not light, remove it and check that the socket is fully locked in.
