🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulbs - Bulb Replacement
This job replaces the front turn signal bulbs in the headlamp assemblies. On your Ram, the bulbs are accessed from behind the front lamps, so you usually do not need to remove the whole headlight.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lights off and let the bulbs cool before touching anything. Bulbs get very hot.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable if you want the safest electrical handling. This is not always required, but it helps prevent shorts.
- Do not touch a new halogen bulb glass with bare fingers. Skin oil can shorten bulb life.
- Work carefully around the front lamp housing so you do not crack the plastic tabs.
- Tip: Take a photo before removing parts.

- Let the front lamp area cool if the lights were recently on.
- If replacing both bulbs, do one side at a time so you can compare the parts.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open access to the back of the front lamp
- Open the hood.
- Locate the back side of the headlamp assembly on the side you are servicing.
- If access is tight, remove any plastic air guide or intake duct in front of the lamp using a 7mm socket or trim panel tool, depending on what is in the way.
Step 2: Remove the bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlamp and find the turn signal bulb socket.
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it straight out.
- If it is stuck, use a flat-blade screwdriver carefully to help release the tab.
- Tip: Do not force the socket.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Remove the old bulb from the socket.
- Install the new front turn signal bulb into the socket.
- Make sure it seats fully and matches the old bulb style.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket
- Push the socket back into the lamp housing.
- Twist it clockwise by hand until it locks in place.
- Reinstall any ducting or plastic covers removed earlier using the 7mm socket and trim panel tool.
Step 5: Test the new bulb
- Turn the ignition on.
- Activate the left and right turn signals.
- Check for normal flash speed and proper operation on both sides.
- If the bulb does not work, remove it and confirm it is fully seated.
✅ After Repair
- Verify both front turn signals flash normally.
- Check the parking lights and marker lights nearby to make sure nothing was disturbed.
- If the flash rate is fast, the bulb may be wrong or not fully installed.
