š§ 1500 - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your 1500ās front turn signals use an amber bulb inside the headlamp assembly. Replacing it is usually a quick job from under the hood by twisting the bulb socket out of the headlamp and swapping the bulb.
Assumption: Your 1500 has the standard halogen headlamps (most Express trims do) with a dual-function front turn/park bulb.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-0.7 hours
ā ļø Safety & Precautions
- ā ļø Turn the lights off and let the headlamp area cool before you start.
- ā ļø Do not touch the new bulb glass with bare fingers; skin oils can shorten bulb life.
- ā ļø If youāll work near the battery/positive terminal, remove metal jewelry to prevent accidental shorting.

šØ Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Identify the correct bulb socket
- Use a flashlight to look behind the headlamp assembly.
- Find the socket that feeds the amber front turn/park bulb (itās typically the outer/lower socket on the headlamp housing).
- Turn on hazards briefly to confirm.
Step 2: Create working room (only if needed)
- If your hand doesnāt fit, loosen nearby intake ducting or move a small shield out of the way.
- Use an 8mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet to loosen an air duct clamp (do not remove it completely).
- If there are plastic push-clips, remove them using a trim clip removal tool. If one is stubborn, gently help it with a small flathead screwdriver.
Step 3: Remove the bulb socket from the headlamp
- Grip the socket firmly.
- Twist the socket counterclockwise about a quarter turn.
- Pull the socket straight out of the headlamp housing.
Step 4: Remove the old bulb
- Put on nitrile gloves.
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket (itās a push-in style).
- If itās stuck, gently wiggle while pullingādo not crush the glass.
Step 5: Install the new bulb
- With nitrile gloves on, push the new amber bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
- If you accidentally touched the glass, wipe it with a clean, dry paper towel before installing.
Step 6: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
- Twist clockwise until it locks (snug by handāno tools needed).
Step 7: Reinstall anything you moved
- Reposition any ducting/shields you moved.
- Use an 8mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet to snug the clamp (do not overtighten).
- Reinstall push-clips by pressing them in by hand.
Step 8: Repeat for the other side
- Replace the bulb on the opposite headlamp the same way.
- Replace in pairs for matching brightness.
ā After Repair
- Turn the ignition to RUN and test: left signal, right signal, hazards, and parking lights.
- Walk around and confirm both sides flash at a normal speed (fast flashing usually means a bulb isnāt seated or is the wrong type).
- Make sure any intake ducting you loosened is secure and not rubbing on the fan/shroud.
