š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to 1st gear, and set the parking brake.
- Place wheel chocks behind the rear tires.
- Turn the ignition and all lights OFF and remove the key.
- Lay a fender cover to avoid scratches.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open access to the back of the headlamp
- Open the hood.
- Use a flashlight to locate the rear of the headlamp assembly on the side youāre working on.
- If the air intake ducting or cover blocks your hand, remove the push-clips using a trim clip removal tool (a forked tool that pops plastic clips out without breaking them).
- If there are small screws, remove them using a 7mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet and 1/4" drive extension (6").
Step 2: Identify the turn signal bulb socket
- From behind the headlamp, find the bulb socket that corresponds to the turn signal (typically the amber/turn function).
- Use a flashlight and follow the wiring harness to the socket.
Step 3: Remove the bulb socket
- Grip the socket and rotate it counterclockwise about 1/4 turn by hand.
- If itās tight, use a nitrile gloves grip and steady pressureādonāt force it with pliers.
- Pull the socket straight out.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket by hand.
- Put on nitrile gloves and install the new bulb fully into the socket.
- If you touched the glass, wipe with clean dry rag.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
- Rotate clockwise about 1/4 turn until it locks in place.
- Make sure the socket is fully seated to keep moisture out.
Step 6: Reinstall any covers or ducting
- Reinstall any air duct/covers you removed using the 7mm socket and 1/4" drive ratchet.
- Reinstall push-clips by pressing them back in by hand (use a flathead screwdriver only if needed to start the center pin).
Step 7: Repeat on the other side
- Replace the other front turn signal bulb the same way.
- Replacing in pairs keeps brightness even.
ā After Repair
- Turn the ignition to ON and test left and right turn signals.
- Verify the flash rate is normal (fast flashing can mean a bulb isnāt seated or is wrong type).
- Turn on parking lights and hazards to confirm both sides work.
- Check that all clips/covers are secure and nothing is rubbing a belt or fan.
