🔧 Sienna - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your Sienna’s front turn signal bulb sits inside the headlamp assembly. Replacement is usually done from under the hood by removing and swapping the bulb in the turn-signal socket.
If access feels tight on one side, there’s an alternate access path through the front fender liner (inner plastic splash shield).
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-0.8 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the lights OFF and remove the key before starting.
- ⚠️ Let the headlamp area cool; bulbs and housings can get hot.
- ⚠️ Don’t touch the new bulb’s glass with bare fingers; skin oils can shorten bulb life.
- ⚠️ If you use the fender-liner method, support the van with jack stands before reaching under it.

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Turn the headlight/turn-signal stalk to OFF.
- Open the hood and have your flashlight ready to identify the correct socket.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm the correct bulb is out
- Turn the ignition to ON (engine can stay OFF).
- Switch on the hazard lights and walk around the van to confirm which front corner is out.
- Turn ignition back OFF and remove the key.
Step 2: Access the front turn-signal socket (under-hood method)
- Open the hood and use a flashlight to look behind the headlamp on the side you’re replacing.
- Find the turn-signal bulb socket (it’s on the back of the headlamp; you’ll see wiring going to a twist-lock socket).
- If your hand room is tight, gently move any flexible rubber dust flap/wiring aside—do not pull on wires.
Step 3: Remove the bulb socket
- Grip the socket firmly and rotate it counterclockwise about a quarter turn by hand.
- Pull the socket straight back out of the headlamp housing.
- Twist-lock means “turn then pull.”
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket by hand (it’s a wedge-fit bulb, meaning it just pulls out).
- Put on nitrile gloves, then push the new bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
- If you accidentally touch the bulb glass, wipe it with a clean dry cloth before installing.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp opening.
- Rotate clockwise by hand until it locks in place (snug and fully seated).
Step 6: If you can’t reach it (alternate fender-liner access)
- Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels.
- Lift the front corner with a floor jack (rated 3-ton minimum) and support with jack stands (rated 3-ton minimum).
- Turn the front wheel outward for more room.
- Remove the small section of front fender liner clips/screws using a trim clip removal tool and flathead screwdriver (some fasteners may use a 10mm socket with a 1/4" ratchet and 6" socket extension).
- Reach up behind the headlamp and repeat Steps 3–5.
âś… After Repair
- Turn ignition ON and test the turn signal and hazard lights on that side.
- Verify normal flash speed (rapid “hyper-flash” usually means another bulb is still out).
- If you opened the fender liner, confirm all clips/bolts are reinstalled and nothing is rubbing the tire.
