🔧 Canyon - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
You’ll replace the front turn signal bulbs by accessing the back of each headlamp housing from under the hood, twisting the bulb socket out, and swapping the bulb. This fixes fast-flashing, a dead turn signal, or a dim/incorrect-colored front signal.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
Assumption: your Canyon has halogen headlamps with replaceable front turn/park bulbs.
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and switch all lights OFF before starting.
- ⚠️ Let the headlamp area cool if the lights were recently on.
- ⚠️ Wear gloves—oil from fingers can shorten bulb life.
- ⚠️ Do not touch the glass of the new bulb; hold it by the base.
- ⚠️ Battery disconnect is not required for this job.

- Front turn signal bulb (amber) - Replace in pairs - Qty: 2
đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Open the hood and use a flashlight to identify the rear of each headlamp housing.
- Have your new bulbs opened and ready, but keep them clean (don’t touch the glass).
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Create access (driver side)
- Locate the windshield washer fluid fill neck near the driver-side headlamp.
- If it blocks your hand, remove the hold-down fastener using a 10mm socket, 1/4" ratchet, and extension.
- Carefully pull the fill neck up/out of the way. Move it gently—don’t kink hoses.
- If you removed a 10mm bolt, reinstall it later to Torque to 9 Nm (80 in-lbs).
Step 2: Create access (passenger side)
- Locate the air intake duct/tube near the passenger-side headlamp.
- If it blocks access, loosen the clamp using an 8mm socket and 1/4" ratchet (or use a flat-blade screwdriver if it’s a screw-style clamp).
- Release any clips using a trim clip removal tool, then move the duct enough to reach behind the headlamp.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- From behind the headlamp, find the turn signal/park bulb socket (it’s one of the smaller twist-lock sockets).
- Twist the socket counterclockwise about 1/4 turn by hand, then pull it straight out.
- If it’s tight, use your nitrile gloves for better grip. Don’t use pliers on plastic.
Step 4: Remove the old bulb
- Pull the bulb straight out of the socket (it’s a push-in style).
- Check the socket for corrosion or melted plastic. If you see damage, the socket should be replaced.
Step 5: Install the new bulb
- Put on nitrile gloves and insert the new amber bulb into the socket until fully seated.
- If you accidentally touch the glass, wipe it clean with rubbing alcohol and let it dry.
Step 6: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing, making sure it sits square.
- Twist clockwise about 1/4 turn until it locks.
Step 7: Reassemble what you moved
- Reinstall the washer fill neck fastener on the driver side using a 10mm socket and 1/4" ratchet. Torque to 9 Nm (80 in-lbs).
- Reposition the intake duct on the passenger side and tighten the clamp using an 8mm socket and 1/4" ratchet (or flat-blade screwdriver).
- Reinstall any clips using the trim clip removal tool.
âś… After Repair
- Turn the ignition to ON and test left and right turn signals.
- Turn on hazard lights and walk around to confirm both front signals flash evenly.
- If the turn signal still fast-flashes, check the rear bulb on that same side (a burned-out rear bulb can also cause fast flashing).
