🔧 QX60 - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your QX60’s front turn signal bulbs sit inside the headlamp housing and are usually accessed from the wheel-well liner. Replacing them restores proper signaling and keeps you legal and safe.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
Assumption: your QX60 uses 7440A/7440 amber front turn signal bulbs (most common).
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- 🛑 Park on level ground and use wheel chocks before working near a wheel.
- 🔥 Let the headlamp area cool; bulbs and housings can be hot.
- 🧤 Wear gloves; keep oils off the bulb glass to prevent early failure.
- 🔩 If you lift the vehicle, always support it with jack stands (never rely on the jack).
- 🔋 Battery disconnect is not required for this bulb swap.

- Fender liner push clips - Qty: 2-6
📋 Before You Begin
- 🅿️ Park on a flat surface, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- 🧱 Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels.
- ↪️ Turn the steering wheel away from the side you’re working on to create more space in the wheel well.
- 💡 Verify the bulb: turn on the hazard lights and confirm which front turn signal is out, then turn the lights OFF.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Create access at the front wheel well
- Use wheel chocks to secure the vehicle.
- (Optional for more room) Lift the front corner with a floor jack (rated 2-ton minimum) and support it with jack stands (rated 2-ton minimum).
- If you remove the wheel, loosen/tighten lug nuts using the correct lug tool (not listed). Reinstall and Torque to 133 Nm (98 ft-lbs).
Step 2: Peel back the fender liner
- Locate the plastic clips/screws at the front portion of the wheel-well liner (near the bumper/headlamp area).
- Remove clips using a trim clip removal tool. If a clip is stubborn, gently help it with a flat-blade screwdriver.
- If your liner uses small bolts, remove them with a 10mm socket and 3/8" ratchet.
- Pull the liner back just enough to reach behind the headlamp. Use a work light so you can see clearly.
- Tip: Don’t fully remove the liner.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlamp and find the turn signal bulb socket (it will have wires going into a twist-lock base).
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand to unlock it, then pull it straight out.
- If it’s tight, use nitrile gloves for better grip—avoid using pliers (they can crack the socket).
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Install the new front turn signal bulb (amber, 7440A/7440) by pushing it straight in until fully seated.
- Do not touch the bulb glass with bare fingers; keep nitrile gloves on.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket and liner
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp and twist clockwise by hand until it locks.
- Reposition the liner and reinstall all clips/bolts using the trim clip removal tool, flat-blade screwdriver, and/or 10mm socket with 3/8" ratchet.
- Replace any broken clips with new fender liner push clips.
Step 6: Repeat on the other side
- Replace the other front turn signal bulb the same way (bulbs age together, so pairs are best).
✅ After Repair
- 🔁 Turn on the hazard lights and confirm both front turn signals blink normally.
- ⚡ Verify the turn signal “fast blink” is gone (fast blink usually means a bulb isn’t working).
- 🔎 Make sure the fender liner is fully secured and not rubbing the tire.
