🔧 Durango - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
You’ll replace the front turn signal bulb(s) by accessing the back of the headlamp housing under the hood. This restores proper signaling and keeps you legal and safe, especially at night and in traffic.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-0.6 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- 🧤 Turn the lights OFF and let the headlamp area cool before touching anything.
- 🧤 Don’t touch the new bulb’s glass with bare fingers (skin oil can shorten bulb life); use gloves.
- 🧤 Battery disconnect is not required for this bulb replacement.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Nitrile gloves
- Safety glasses
- Small flashlight

📋 Before You Begin
- 🅿️ Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- 🔦 Open the hood and use a flashlight so you can clearly see the bulb sockets behind the headlamp.
- 🧼 Replace bulbs in pairs for even brightness.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open access to the back of the headlamp
- Open the hood and stand behind the headlamp you’re working on.
- Use a small flashlight to locate the bulb sockets on the rear of the headlamp housing.
- If a small air deflector or cover is blocking your hand, gently release clips using a trim clip remover (a forked tool that pops plastic clips without breaking them).
Step 2: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Identify the turn signal socket (typically the amber-bulb position in the headlamp assembly).
- Grip the socket and rotate it counterclockwise about 1/4 turn by hand, then pull it straight out.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket (it’s a push-in style).
- Push the new front turn signal bulb (amber, 7444NA) straight into the socket until fully seated.
- If it feels loose, re-seat it firmly.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing, keeping it aligned.
- Rotate clockwise by hand about 1/4 turn until it locks.
- Reinstall any clips/covers you removed using the trim clip remover.
Step 5: Repeat on the other side
- Repeat Steps 1-4 for the other front turn signal bulb.
✅ After Repair
- ✅ Turn the ignition on and test left and right turn signals.
- ✅ Turn on the hazard lights and walk around to confirm both front signals flash evenly.
- ✅ If a bulb doesn’t light, remove that socket and re-seat the bulb and socket fully.
