🔧 Grand Cherokee - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
This repair replaces the front turn signal bulbs in your Grand Cherokee. The front turn signal bulb is accessed through the front wheel-well splash shield, so you do not need to remove the headlamp assembly.

- ⚠️ Let the bulbs cool before touching the lamp area.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park your Grand Cherokee on level ground.
- Turn the steering wheel away from the side you are working on. This gives more room in the wheel well.
- Set the parking brake.
- Turn the headlight switch to OFF.
- A trim clip removal tool is a small pry tool used to lift plastic fasteners without breaking them.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Turn the Wheel for Access
- Use the steering wheel to turn the front tire away from the bulb you are replacing.
- For the left front bulb, turn the wheel fully right.
- For the right front bulb, turn the wheel fully left.
- Use a flashlight to look inside the front wheel-well area behind the bumper.
Step 2: Open the Wheel-Well Splash Shield
- Use a flat-blade screwdriver or trim clip removal tool to remove the plastic push clips from the front section of the wheel-well splash shield.
- A push clip is a reusable plastic fastener with a center pin that expands the clip when installed.
- Pull the splash shield back gently by hand to create an opening.
- Do not crease the liner.
Step 3: Locate the Turn Signal Bulb Socket
- Use a flashlight to look behind the front lamp housing.
- Find the front turn signal bulb socket. It will be mounted in the rear of the headlamp/marker lamp area.
- The socket is removed by twisting it, not by pulling straight out.
Step 4: Remove the Bulb Socket
- Put on nitrile gloves before handling the bulb.
- Use your hand to rotate the bulb socket counterclockwise about a quarter turn.
- Pull the socket straight out of the lamp housing.
- Do not pull hard on the wiring harness.
Step 5: Remove the Old Bulb
- Use your gloved hand to pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- If the bulb feels stuck, gently wiggle it while pulling straight out.
- Inspect the socket for melting, corrosion, or loose terminals.
- If the socket is damaged, replace the socket before installing the new bulb.
Step 6: Install the New Bulb
- Use nitrile gloves to handle the new front turn signal bulb.
- Push the new bulb straight into the socket until it seats fully.
- Do not force it at an angle.
- Clean glass with alcohol if touched.
Step 7: Test Before Reassembly
- Turn the ignition to RUN without starting the engine.
- Use the turn signal stalk to test the repaired side.
- Check that the front turn signal flashes normally.
- Turn the ignition and lights back off before continuing.
Step 8: Reinstall the Bulb Socket
- Use your hand to insert the bulb socket into the lamp housing.
- Rotate the socket clockwise until it locks in place.
- Make sure the socket sits flush so water cannot enter the lamp.
Step 9: Reinstall the Splash Shield
- Use your hand to place the wheel-well splash shield back into position.
- Use the trim clip removal tool or flat-blade screwdriver to help align the push clip holes if needed.
- Reinstall the plastic push clips by pressing them into place by hand.
- No torque specification applies to the plastic push clips; press them until seated flush.
Step 10: Final Light Check
- Use the turn signal stalk to test the left and right front turn signals.
- Turn on the hazard lights and confirm both front turn signals flash evenly.
- If the signal flashes very fast, recheck bulb seating and socket condition.
✅ After Repair
- Confirm the front turn signal, hazard light, and parking lamp functions work normally.
- Check that the wheel-well splash shield is secure and not rubbing the tire.
- No scan tool reset is needed for this bulb replacement.
- If the new bulb does not work, inspect the bulb socket, fuse, and front lighting wiring for damage.
