🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement - Replacement

The front turn signal bulb sits inside the headlamp assembly. You’ll access it from behind the headlight, twist the bulb socket out, swap the bulb, and reinstall everything in reverse order.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the lights off and let the bulbs cool before touching them.
  • Wear gloves and safety glasses.
  • Do not touch the glass part of the new bulb with bare fingers.
  • If your front bumper cover or air inlet blocks access on your model, move slowly and do not force the socket.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this job.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Flat-blade trim tool
  • 10mm socket
  • Ratchet
  • Short extension
  • Flashlight

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front turn signal bulb - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Turn the headlight switch off.
  • Open the hood.
  • If one side is hard to reach, remove the air inlet duct or small upper trim piece only if needed.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open access to the headlamp area

  • Open the hood and locate the back of the headlamp assembly.
  • If the access area is blocked, use a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove any small intake duct or cover in the way.
  • Keep all fasteners in a tray.

Step 2: Remove the turn signal bulb socket

  • Reach behind the headlamp and find the turn signal bulb socket.
  • Use your hand to twist the socket counterclockwise and pull it straight out.
  • If it is tight, use a flat-blade trim tool carefully for light leverage.

Step 3: Replace the bulb

  • Twist the bulb out of the socket or pull it straight out, depending on the socket style.
  • Install the new front turn signal bulb into the socket.
  • Make sure it seats fully and matches the old bulb orientation.
  • Do not touch the glass.

Step 4: Reinstall the socket

  • Insert the socket back into the headlamp opening.
  • Twist it clockwise until it locks.
  • Reinstall any duct or cover you removed using the 10mm socket and ratchet.

Step 5: Test the repair

  • Turn the ignition on.
  • Activate the left and right turn signals one at a time.
  • Check that both front bulbs flash normally and the dash indicator behaves correctly.

✅ After Repair

  • Walk around the vehicle and confirm the signal is bright and steady.
  • If one side still does not work, recheck socket lock-in and bulb seating.
  • If the bulb flashes rapidly, the bulb may not be seated or may be the wrong type.
