šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Loosen the front wheel lug nuts
- Use a 19mm socket and 1/2" drive breaker bar to loosen the lug nuts about 1/2 turn while the tire is still on the ground.
Step 2: Raise and support the front corner
- Use a floor jack (rated 2-ton minimum) to lift the front corner youāre working on.
- Set the car onto a jack stands (rated 2-ton minimum).
- Shake the car gently to confirm stability.
Step 3: Remove the front wheel
- Remove the lug nuts using the 19mm socket, then remove the wheel.
Step 4: Open the front wheel-well liner access
- Use a 7mm socket and 1/4" drive ratchet to remove the small screws along the front edge of the wheel-well liner (near the bumper/headlamp area).
- Remove plastic push-clips using the trim clip removal tool. If needed, gently help the center pin up with a flathead screwdriver, then pull the clip out.
- Pull the liner back just enough to reach behind the headlamp. Use a work light so you can clearly see the bulb sockets.
Step 5: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Find the turn signal/park bulb socket at the rear of the headlamp (it will twist-lock into the housing).
- Grip the socket and rotate it counterclockwise about 1/4 turn, then pull it straight out.
- If itās tight, wiggleādonāt yank the wires.
Step 6: Replace the bulb
- Wear nitrile gloves and pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Push the new bulb straight in until fully seated.
- Use a work light to confirm the bulb is sitting square (not crooked).
Step 7: Reinstall the bulb socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp and rotate clockwise until it stops (locked).
- Tuck the wiring so it wonāt rub on the tire or get pinched by the liner.
Step 8: Reinstall the wheel-well liner fasteners
- Reposition the liner and reinstall the push-clips by hand.
- Reinstall screws using a 7mm socket and 1/4" drive ratchet until snug.
Step 9: Reinstall the wheel and torque lug nuts
- Reinstall the wheel and hand-thread lug nuts.
- Lower the car off the jack stand using the floor jack (rated 2-ton minimum).
- Use a 1/2" drive torque wrench with a 19mm socket and tighten lug nuts in a star pattern: Torque to 135 Nm (100 ft-lbs).
ā After Repair
- š Test the left and right turn signals, then test the hazard lights.
- š Walk to the front and confirm both sides flash evenly and are bright amber.
- š§¼ If the new bulb doesnāt work, remove it and re-seat it firmly in the socket.
