🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulbs - Bulb Replacement
Your front turn signal bulbs are replaced from the back side of each headlamp assembly. This is a simple repair, but the bulbs and sockets can be tight, so work carefully to avoid breaking the plastic parts.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the headlight switch off before starting.
- Let the bulbs cool down before touching them. Hot bulbs can burn you.
- Do not touch the glass on halogen bulbs with bare fingers. Oil from your skin can shorten bulb life.
- If the socket is damaged or melted, replace it before installing a new bulb.
- Battery disconnect is not required for this repair.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
- Open the hood.
- If you are replacing both bulbs, do one side at a time so you can use the other side as a reference.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the hood and access the headlamp area
- Use the hood release inside the cab, then raise the hood fully.
- Locate the back of the headlamp assembly behind each front corner.
Step 2: Remove the upper headlamp retainers
- Use a 7mm socket and 1/4-inch ratchet to remove the upper fasteners around the headlamp support area if they block access.
- Keep the fasteners in a safe place.
- Work gently around the plastic tabs.
Step 3: Access the bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlamp assembly and locate the turn signal bulb socket.
- Rotate the socket counterclockwise by hand to unlock it, then pull it straight out.
- If it is stuck, wiggle it gently. Do not force it.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Remove the old bulb from the socket by pulling it straight out.
- Install the new front turn signal bulb into the socket.
- Make sure the bulb is fully seated.
- Do not touch the glass part of the bulb.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
- Turn it clockwise by hand until it locks.
- Make sure it sits snugly and evenly.
Step 6: Reassemble any removed trim or fasteners
- If you removed any upper retainers, reinstall them using the 7mm socket and 1/4-inch ratchet.
- Tighten securely, but do not overtighten plastic parts.
- Snug is enough on plastic fasteners.
Step 7: Test the new bulb
- Turn the ignition on.
- Activate the left and right turn signals one at a time.
- Confirm the new bulb flashes normally.
✅ After Repair
- Walk around the truck and verify both front signals work.
- Check the bulb color and brightness against the other side.
- If the new bulb does not work, recheck the socket seating and the bulb fit.
- If you get a fast flash, the bulb may not be seated or the wrong bulb type may be installed.
