🔧 RX350 - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
You’ll be replacing the front turn signal bulb(s) inside the headlamp assembly. A failed bulb can cause fast blinking on the dash and reduced visibility to other drivers.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Park on level ground and set the parking brake before starting.
- ⚠️ Turn the light switch OFF and remove the key so the lights don’t power on while your hands are in the housing.
- ⚠️ Let the headlamp area cool if the lights were recently on (bulbs and housings can be hot).
- ⚠️ Avoid touching the glass of the new bulb with bare fingers; skin oils can shorten bulb life.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Nitrile gloves
- Safety glasses
- Trim clip removal tool
- Phillips #2 screwdriver
- 10mm socket
- 1/4" ratchet
- 6" extension for 1/4" ratchet
- Flashlight
🔩 Required Parts
HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:
- Front turn signal bulb - Qty: 1 (replace in pairs recommended)
đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park your RX350 on a flat surface, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Turn the steering wheel away from the side you’re working on (this opens space at the front of the wheel liner).
- Open the hood and set a flashlight nearby.
- Tip: Do one side at a time.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Verify the correct bulb is out
- Turn the ignition to ON (engine off is fine) and switch on the hazard lights to flash both sides.
- Walk around and confirm which front turn signal is not flashing.
- Turn ignition OFF after confirming.
Step 2: Access the bulb (wheel liner method)
- At the front of the wheel well on the side you’re replacing, use a trim clip removal tool to remove the plastic push-clips holding the front edge of the fender liner.
- If a screw is present, remove it with a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
- Pull the liner back by hand to create a working gap. Tip: Don’t crease the liner.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlamp and locate the turn signal socket (the twist-lock plastic base).
- Use your hand (or gently assist with a flashlight for visibility) and rotate the socket counterclockwise about 1/4 turn, then pull it straight out.
- Tip: If it won’t turn, wiggle while twisting.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Put on nitrile gloves to keep oils off the bulb.
- Remove the old bulb from the socket (most pull straight out; if it’s a twist type, rotate gently and pull).
- Install the new front turn signal bulb fully into the socket.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the bulb/socket back into the headlamp opening.
- Twist clockwise about 1/4 turn until it locks in place.
Step 6: Test operation
- Turn ignition ON and activate the turn signal and hazards to confirm the new bulb flashes normally.
- If it does not light, remove the socket again and re-seat the bulb firmly.
Step 7: Reinstall the wheel liner fasteners
- Reposition the liner.
- Reinstall the push-clips by hand and press the center pin in using the trim clip removal tool (flat side) if needed.
- Reinstall any screws with the Phillips #2 screwdriver.
âś… After Repair
- Confirm both front turn signals flash at a normal speed (no “hyper-flash”).
- Check that the wheel liner is secured and not rubbing the tire.
- If your RX350 uses an amber LED module instead of a replaceable bulb on your specific headlamp, the fix may require replacing the lamp/module rather than a bulb. Tip: If there’s no removable socket, it’s likely LED.
