đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park your Grand Cherokee on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Turn the steering wheel slightly away from the side you’re working on to make hand access easier.
- Wear gloves for better grip and cleanliness.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm the correct bulb is out
- Turn on the hazard lights, then walk around the vehicle and confirm which front turn signal is not flashing.
- Turn hazards OFF before you start disassembly.
Step 2: Open the hood and locate the turn signal bulb socket
- Open the hood and use a flashlight to look behind the headlamp on the side you’re replacing.
- Find the turn signal bulb socket (a round plastic socket going into the back of the headlamp).
Step 3: Remove the bulb socket from the headlamp
- Grip the socket firmly (use nitrile gloves for grip).
- Rotate the socket about 1/4 turn counterclockwise, then pull it straight out.
- If your hands don’t fit well, use a flashlight and reposition wiring gently—do not yank on wires.
Step 4: Remove the old bulb from the socket
- Pull the bulb straight out of the socket (it’s a push-in wedge style).
- If it’s stuck, wiggle it gently while pulling—don’t crush the bulb.
Step 5: Install the new bulb
- Push the new amber bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
- Use nitrile gloves to keep oils/dirt off the bulb and socket.
Step 6: Reinstall the socket and test
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp, making sure it sits flush.
- Rotate the socket clockwise about 1/4 turn until it locks.
- Turn on the hazards and confirm the new front turn signal flashes normally.
Step 7: Repeat on the other side (recommended)
- Replace the other front turn signal bulb the same way.
- Replacing in pairs helps avoid mismatched brightness/color.
âś… After Repair
- Verify left and right turn signals work from the stalk.
- Verify hazards work and both front turn signals flash at the same speed.
- If it “hyper-flashes” (very fast blinking), re-seat the bulb and socket and re-test.
