🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Confirm it’s a replaceable bulb (not a sealed LED)

• Open the hood and look behind the headlight with a work light.
• If you see a round bulb socket with wires going to it, it’s serviceable (you can replace the bulb).
• If there is no removable socket and the turn signal is part of a sealed LED headlamp, the “bulb” is not replaceable separately (the headlamp/LED unit is the service part).

Step 2: Create access (wheel-well method – most common)

• Loosen nothing on the wheel; you usually don’t need to remove it.
• If you want more room, lift the front corner with a floor jack (rated 2-ton minimum) and support it with jack stands (rated 2-ton minimum, pair).
• Remove the front section of the fender liner fasteners:
  • Use a trim clip removal tool to pop out push clips (this tool is a forked pry tool that removes plastic clips without breaking them).
  • Use a Phillips screwdriver for any screws.
  • If you see small bolts, remove them with a 10mm socket and 3/8" ratchet.
• Pull the liner back just enough to reach the rear of the headlight by hand.

Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket

• Reach behind the headlight and locate the turn signal socket (follow the turn signal wiring).
• Rotate the socket counterclockwise about 1/4 turn to unlock it.
• Pull the socket straight out of the headlight housing.

Step 4: Replace the bulb

• Put on nitrile gloves.
• Remove the old bulb from the socket:
  • If it’s a wedge style, pull it straight out.
  • If it’s a twist/lock style, push in slightly and turn counterclockwise, then pull out.
• Install the new front turn signal bulb (amber) fully into the socket.
• Match the new bulb to the old one.

Step 5: Reinstall the socket and verify operation

• Insert the socket back into the headlight and rotate clockwise to lock.
• Turn the ignition to ON and switch on the turn signal for that side.
• Confirm the turn signal flashes normally (not fast).

Step 6: Reinstall the fender liner

• Reposition the liner.
• Reinstall clips using a trim clip removal tool (push the center pin in last to lock).
• Reinstall any screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
• Reinstall any bolts with a 10mm socket and 3/8" ratchet.

✅ After Repair

• Test both left and right turn signals and the hazard lights.
• If the new bulb “hyper-flashes” (very fast), recheck that the bulb is fully seated and the correct type for your Tucson.
• Make sure the fender liner is secured so it won’t rub the tire.
