🔧 Tucson - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your Tucson’s front turn signal bulbs sit inside the headlamp housings. Replacement is usually done from behind the headlight in the engine bay by twisting the bulb socket out, swapping the bulb, and reinstalling.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-0.7 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key before working near the cooling fans.
- ⚠️ Let the headlamps cool first; bulbs and housings can get hot.
- ⚠️ Don’t touch the new bulb’s glass with bare fingers; skin oils can shorten bulb life.
- ⚠️ No battery disconnect is required for this bulb replacement.

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Turn the lights OFF and open the hood.
- Have your small flashlight ready so you can see behind the headlamp.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm the correct side
- Turn the hazard lights ON briefly, then OFF.
- Walk around and confirm which front turn signal is out (left/driver or right/passenger).
- Open the hood and use a small flashlight to locate the rear of that headlamp housing.
Step 2: Locate the turn signal bulb socket
- From behind the headlamp, find the bulb socket that feeds the turn signal area of the headlight.
- Use a small flashlight to confirm you’re on the correct socket before removing anything.
Step 3: Remove the bulb socket
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Grip the socket and twist it about 1/4 turn counterclockwise by hand, then pull it straight out.
- If it’s tight, wiggle gently.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Install the new front turn signal bulb (amber) into the socket.
- If you accidentally touch the glass, wipe it with a clean, dry cloth (still wearing nitrile gloves).
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
- Twist clockwise about 1/4 turn by hand until it locks in place.
- Make sure the socket sits flush; a crooked socket can let moisture in.
Step 6: Repeat on the other side (recommended)
- Replace the bulb on the opposite front turn signal the same way.
- Pairs help keep brightness and color matched.
✅ After Repair
- Turn the ignition ON and test: left signal, right signal, and hazards.
- Verify the turn signal flashes at a normal speed on the dash (fast flashing can mean a bulb isn’t seated or another bulb is out).
- Check that the bulb socket is fully locked to help prevent condensation inside the headlamp.
