🔧 SRX - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your SRX’s front turn signal bulb sits in the headlamp housing and is usually accessed from the wheel-well liner. Replacing it restores proper signaling and visibility, and it’s a quick job with basic hand tools.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
Assumption: front turn bulb is an amber wedge bulb (verify the number on your old bulb).
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Work on level ground and use jack stands if lifting.
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key before working near the headlamp wiring.
- ⚠️ Do not touch the glass part of any bulb; oils from skin can shorten bulb life.
- ⚠️ Let the headlamp area cool if lights were recently on.

🔩 Required Parts
HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:
- Front turn signal bulb (amber) - Replace in pairs - Qty: 2
- Wheel liner push clips - Qty: 2-6
📋 Before You Begin
- Park on a flat surface, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels.
- Turn the steering wheel fully away from the side you’re working on (gives more room at the wheel liner).
- If you choose to remove the wheel for extra space, loosen lug nuts slightly before lifting.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Create access at the wheel well
- Turn the steering wheel to open up space at the front of the wheel liner.
- If you need more room, use a 19mm socket and 3/8" drive ratchet to loosen the lug nuts 1 turn (do not remove yet).
- Lift the front corner with a floor jack and support with jack stands.
- Remove the wheel using the 19mm socket and 3/8" drive ratchet.
Step 2: Pull back the front fender liner
- Use a trim clip removal tool to remove the plastic push-clips along the front edge of the wheel liner.
- If equipped with small screws, remove them with a 7mm socket and 3/8" drive ratchet.
- Gently pull the liner back just enough to reach behind the headlamp. Don’t crease the liner.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Use a work light to locate the turn signal bulb socket at the back of the headlamp.
- Grab the socket and rotate it counterclockwise about a quarter-turn to unlock it.
- Pull the socket straight out of the headlamp housing.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Wear nitrile gloves (helps keep oils off the bulb).
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket (it’s a “wedge” style bulb, meaning it’s held by friction, not threads).
- Push the new amber bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket and liner
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp and turn clockwise to lock.
- Reposition the wheel liner and reinstall all clips using the trim clip removal tool (and screws with the 7mm socket if present).
Step 6: Reinstall the wheel (if removed)
- Install the wheel and hand-thread the lug nuts.
- Snug the lug nuts in a star pattern using a 19mm socket and 3/8" drive ratchet.
- Lower the vehicle and final-tighten with a torque wrench: Torque to 140 Nm (103 ft-lbs) in a star pattern.
✅ After Repair
- Turn the ignition ON and test the turn signals and hazards on both sides.
- Verify the turn signal flashes normally (a very fast flash usually means a bulb isn’t working).
- Check that the wheel liner is secured and not rubbing the tire.
