🔧 Accord - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your Accord’s front turn signal bulbs sit inside the headlight assembly, but they’re easiest to reach from behind the headlight through the front wheel-well area. You’ll remove a small section of the inner fender liner (the plastic splash shield inside the wheel arch), swap the bulb, and reinstall everything.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key before starting.
- ⚠️ Let the headlight area cool if lights were recently on.
- ⚠️ Don’t touch the new bulb glass with bare fingers; oil can shorten bulb life.
- ⚠️ If you raise the car, support it with jack stands on solid ground.

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:
- Front turn signal bulb (amber) - Replace in pairs - Qty: 2
- Plastic push clips for fender liner - Qty: 2-6
đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, turn the steering wheel fully away from the side you’re working on, and set the parking brake.
- Chock a rear wheel using wheel chocks.
- If you want extra room, you can remove the front wheel on that side (optional).
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Make room to access the bulb
- Turn the steering wheel fully to the opposite side to open up space in the wheel well.
- Use a flashlight to locate the small access area of the inner fender liner (the plastic shield inside the wheel arch).
Step 2: Optional wheel removal (more working space)
- Use a 19mm socket and 1/2-inch drive ratchet to loosen the lug nuts about 1 turn while the tire is on the ground.
- Lift the front corner using a floor jack (rated 2-ton minimum) and support it with jack stands (rated 2-ton minimum).
- Remove the lug nuts using the 19mm socket and 1/2-inch drive ratchet, then remove the wheel.
Step 3: Open the fender liner access
- Remove the plastic clips/screws holding the liner edge using a plastic trim removal tool and Phillips #2 screwdriver.
- If a clip center pin is stuck, gently help it up using a small flat-blade screwdriver, then pull the clip out with the plastic trim removal tool.
- Pull the liner back just enough to fit your hand behind the headlight. Don’t crease the liner.
Step 4: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlight and find the turn signal socket (it’s the socket going into the headlight housing).
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand to unlock it, then pull it straight out.
Step 5: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket while wearing nitrile gloves.
- Push the new front turn signal bulb (amber) straight into the socket until fully seated.
- If you touched the glass, wipe it clean.
Step 6: Reinstall the socket and test
- Insert the socket back into the headlight and twist clockwise to lock it.
- Turn the ignition to ON and test the turn signals and hazards to confirm operation.
- If it doesn’t work, turn ignition OFF and re-check bulb seating and socket lock.
Step 7: Reassemble the fender liner and wheel
- Reposition the liner and reinstall all clips/screws using a plastic trim removal tool and Phillips #2 screwdriver.
- If you removed the wheel, install the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
- Lower the car, then tighten lug nuts in a star pattern using a torque wrench (10-200 Nm range).
- Torque to 108 Nm (80 ft-lbs)
Step 8: Repeat on the other side
- Repeat the same steps for the other front turn signal so the bulbs match in brightness and color.
âś… After Repair
- Test left and right turn signals, hazards, and parking lights.
- Confirm the turn signal blinks at a normal speed (fast blinking usually means a bulb isn’t working).
- Check the fender liner is secured and not rubbing the tire.
