🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulb - Replacement

The front turn signal bulbs on your Sentra are replaced from the headlamp housing. This is a simple job, but access is a little tight, so take your time and avoid touching the glass of the new bulb with bare fingers.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the lights off and remove the key before starting.
  • Let the headlamp area cool down if the bulbs were recently on.
  • Do not touch the glass part of the new bulb with bare hands; use gloves or a clean paper towel.
  • If your hand has to go near sharp body edges, wear safety gloves.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Nitrile gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Trim panel removal tool
  • Flat-blade screwdriver
  • Flashlight

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front turn signal bulb, amber - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Turn the headlight switch off.
  • If replacing one bulb, it is still smart to replace both sides so they match.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the hood

  • Use the hood release inside the cabin, then open the hood fully and secure it.
  • Use a flashlight to look behind the headlamp area.

Step 2: Access the bulb socket

  • Reach behind the headlamp assembly from the engine bay.
  • Locate the turn signal bulb socket on the back of the headlamp housing.
  • If access is tight, use a flat-blade screwdriver or trim panel removal tool to gently move any plastic retainers or covers out of the way.

Step 3: Remove the old bulb

  • Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it straight out.
  • Remove the bulb from the socket by pulling it straight out if it is a push-in style.
  • Do not force the socket.

Step 4: Install the new bulb

  • Put on nitrile gloves before handling the new bulb.
  • Push the new bulb into the socket until it seats fully.
  • Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing and twist it clockwise to lock it in place.

Step 5: Test the turn signal

  • Turn the ignition on.
  • Activate the left and right turn signals one at a time.
  • Make sure the new bulb flashes normally and matches the opposite side.

✅ After Repair

  • Check that the headlamp cover and any clips are fully seated.
  • Verify both front turn signals flash at the correct rate.
  • If the bulb does not light, remove it and reinstall it once more to confirm it is fully seated.
