🔧 Grand Cherokee - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

Your Grand Cherokee’s front turn signals use an amber bulb inside the headlamp assembly. Replacing it is usually a quick job from under the hood by twisting out the bulb socket and swapping the bulb.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-0.7 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • 🔸 Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key before starting.
  • 🔸 Let the headlamp area cool—bulbs can get hot.
  • 🔸 Don’t touch the glass part of the new bulb with bare fingers (skin oils can shorten bulb life).
  • 🔸 If you accidentally touch it, wipe the bulb with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Flashlight

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front turn signal/park bulb (amber, 3157NA) - Qty: 2 Replace in pairs

đź“‹ Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Turn the headlight switch to OFF.
  • Open the hood and use a flashlight to see behind the headlamp.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Locate the front turn signal bulb socket

  • Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
  • From behind the headlamp assembly (under the hood), find the socket that goes into the headlamp housing.
  • Use a flashlight to identify the turn signal/park bulb socket (it’s the one that twists out of the headlamp).

Step 2: Remove the bulb socket from the headlamp

  • Grip the socket firmly and rotate it about 1/4 turn counterclockwise by hand.
  • Pull the socket straight out of the headlamp housing.

Step 3: Remove the old bulb

  • Pull the bulb straight out of the socket (it’s a push-in style bulb).
  • Compare the old bulb to the new one to make sure the base matches.

Step 4: Install the new bulb

  • With nitrile gloves on, push the new bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
  • Tip: Firm push is normal.

Step 5: Reinstall the socket

  • Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
  • Rotate the socket clockwise about 1/4 turn until it locks in place.

Step 6: Repeat on the other side

  • Use the same steps for the other front turn signal bulb.

âś… After Repair

  • Turn the ignition to ON and test left and right turn signals.
  • Turn on the hazard lights and confirm both front signals flash evenly.
  • If a bulb doesn’t light, turn everything OFF and re-check that the bulb is fully seated and the socket is locked.
