🔧 F-150 - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your front turn signal bulbs sit inside the headlight assembly. On your F-150, the easiest way to reach them is usually to slide the headlight assembly forward by removing the two top retaining pins, then twist the bulb socket out.

- ⚠️ Let the headlight area cool if the lights were just on.

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Turn the headlight switch to OFF.
- Open the hood and have a flashlight ready so you can see the bulb sockets.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Remove the headlight retaining pins
- Use a flashlight to locate the two vertical retaining pins at the top of the headlight assembly (they look like metal rods with a tab).
- Use a trim clip removal tool to lift up on each pin tab, then pull the pins straight up and out.
- If a pin is stubborn, use needle-nose pliers to pull upward while wiggling gently. Don’t bend the pins.
Step 2: Slide the headlight assembly forward
- With both pins removed, grasp the headlight assembly and pull it straight forward.
- If it feels stuck, use a small flathead screwdriver to gently help release the locating tabs while you pull forward. Go slow to avoid cracking the lens.
Step 3: Remove the front turn signal bulb socket
- Behind the headlight assembly, find the turn signal/park lamp socket (it’s one of the twist-lock sockets in the housing).
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand to unlock it, then pull it straight out.
- If it’s tight, use nitrile gloves for grip and twist firmly—no tools needed.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket (it’s a push-in bulb).
- Put on nitrile gloves and push the new amber bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
- If you touched the glass, wipe with rubbing alcohol.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket and headlight
- Insert the socket back into the housing and twist clockwise until it locks.
- Slide the headlight assembly back into place, lining up the guide tabs.
- Reinstall the two retaining pins by pushing them straight down until fully seated.
Step 6: Repeat on the other side
- Use the same trim clip removal tool and flashlight steps to replace the bulb on the other headlight.
âś… After Repair
- Start the truck and test the left and right turn signals.
- Test hazards to make sure both front signals flash evenly.
- If one side flashes fast, that bulb may not be seated fully—remove and reinstall it.
