š§ Sorento - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your Sorentoās front turn signal is either a replaceable bulb inside the headlamp housing, or an LED module that isnāt serviceable as a ābulb.ā Iāll walk you through the bulb-style replacement, and Iāll also tell you what to look for if yours is LED.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-0.8 hours
ā ļø Safety & Precautions
- ā ļø Turn ignition OFF and remove the key/fob from the vehicle.
- ā ļø Let the headlamp cool before touching it (hot bulb/housing can burn you).

šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm you have a replaceable bulb (not LED)
- Look at the front turn signal area in the headlamp: if itās an amber bulb that flashes, itās replaceable.
- If itās an LED strip or LED segment with no bulb socket, itās typically not a ābulb replacementā job (the headlamp assembly or LED module is replaced as a unit).
- A bulb socket is the plastic piece that twists out of the lamp and holds the bulb.
Step 2: Access the back of the headlamp
- Use a flashlight to locate the rear of the headlamp housing on the side youāre replacing.
- If your hands donāt fit, remove the closest intake duct/cover clips using a trim clip removal tool and/or small flathead screwdriver to gain room.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlamp and find the turn signal socket (it will have a wiring connector going to it).
- Grip the socket and rotate it counterclockwise about 1/4 turn, then pull it straight out.
- If thereās a locking tab on the connector, press it with your thumb (or gently with a small flathead screwdriver) and unplug it.
Step 4: Remove the old bulb
- Pull the bulb straight out of the socket (some bulbs wiggle out; donāt twist unless your bulb is a twist-lock style).
- Read the bulb number printed on the bulb base and match it when buying the replacement.
Step 5: Install the new bulb
- Put on nitrile gloves and install the new bulb into the socket fully seated.
- Apply a tiny amount of dielectric grease to the connector seal (not on the bulb glass).
Step 6: Reinstall the socket and test
- Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks.
- Insert the socket into the headlamp and rotate clockwise to lock.
- Turn ignition ON and test the turn signal and hazards. Confirm normal flash rate.
Step 7: Reinstall any ducts/covers you removed
- Reinstall any intake ducting/covers and push clips back in by hand.
- If you removed any 10mm fasteners, reinstall them using a 10mm socket, 3/8" ratchet, and 6" extension.
ā After Repair
- Verify the turn signal flashes at a normal speed on both sides.
- If it āhyper-flashesā (very fast), re-check the bulb seating and connector, or confirm you installed the correct bulb type.
- Check that the socket is fully locked to keep moisture out of the headlamp.
