🔧 Suspension Bushings - Bushing Replacement

Assumption: this guide covers the front lower control arm bushings on your Sierra. If your bushings are in a different suspension arm, the removal steps change.

Worn suspension bushings cause clunks, wandering, uneven tire wear, and sloppy steering. On your Sierra, the control arm usually has to come out so the old bushings can be pressed out and the new ones installed correctly.

Difficulty Level: Advanced | Estimated Time: 4-8 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Support the truck securely on jack stands before working underneath.
  • Keep hands clear when using a press. A hydraulic press can pinch hard.
  • Do not reuse torn, cracked, or oil-soaked bushings.
  • If the control arm uses bonded rubber bushings, install them at normal ride height.
  • After the repair, a front-end alignment is required.
  • Battery disconnect is not required for this repair.

  • Mark the cam bolt positions first with a paint marker.
  • Remove the control arm from the truck.

  • Do not bend the arm. Stop if the bushing starts to twist.
