🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift and secure the front of the truck

• Use a floor jack to lift the front of the Tacoma at a safe frame or front crossmember lift point.
• Place jack stands under the frame and lower the truck onto them.
• Remove both front wheels with a 21mm lug wrench or socket.

Step 2: Remove the caliper

• Use a 14mm socket and ratchet to remove the two caliper slide pin bolts.
• Lift the caliper off the bracket.
• Support the caliper with a bungee cord or hook. Never let it hang.

Step 3: Remove the old pads and hardware

• Pull the inner and outer pads out of the bracket.
• Remove the old pad clips from the bracket with a flat-blade screwdriver.

Step 4: Clean and prepare the bracket

Step 6: Install the new pads

• Place the new inner and outer pads into the bracket.

• Confirm the pads sit flat and move freely in the hardware clips.

Step 7: Reinstall the caliper

• Slide the caliper back over the new pads.
• Install the slide pin bolts by hand first, then tighten them with a 14mm socket.
• Torque to 39 Nm (29 ft-lbs).

Step 8: Reinstall the wheel

• Put the wheel back on and thread the lug nuts by hand.
• Tighten them in a crisscross pattern with a 21mm lug wrench or socket.
• Torque to 113 Nm (83 ft-lbs).

Step 9: Repeat on the other side

• Perform the same steps on the opposite front wheel.
• Replace pads in pairs so braking stays even.
