🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Loosen the wheel

• Use a 19mm socket and ratchet to loosen the front lug nuts about 1/2 turn.
• Do not remove them yet.

Step 2: Raise and support the vehicle

• Use a floor jack (rated 3-ton minimum) to lift the front of the vehicle at the proper front jacking point.
• Place jack stands under the front support points and lower the vehicle onto them.
• Remove the wheel with the 19mm socket.

Step 3: Remove the caliper

• Use a 14mm socket and ratchet to remove the caliper slide pin bolts.
• Lift the caliper off the bracket carefully.
• Hang the caliper with a bungee cord or caliper hanger. Do not let it hang by the hose.

Step 4: Remove the old pads and hardware

• Slide the old brake pads out of the bracket.
• Use a flat-blade screwdriver to remove the pad clips if they are stuck.
• Remove the old hardware and clean the bracket with brake cleaner and a wire brush.

Step 5: Compress the caliper piston

Step 6: Install the new hardware and pads

• Apply a thin layer of brake grease to the pad contact points and clip contact areas.
• Install the new pads into the bracket.
• Make sure the pads slide freely in the hardware.

Step 7: Reinstall the caliper

• Place the caliper back over the new pads.
• Use the 14mm socket to reinstall the slide pin bolts.
• Torque to 32 Nm (24 ft-lbs).
• Snug first, then torque evenly.

Step 8: Reinstall the wheel

• Put the wheel back on and start the lug nuts by hand.
• Lower the vehicle with the floor jack.
• Use the 19mm socket and torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern.
• Torque to 108 Nm (80 ft-lbs).

Step 9: Repeat on the other side

• Replace the pads on the opposite front wheel too.
• Front brake pads should always be replaced in pairs.
