🔧 Front Brake Pads and Rotor Replacement - Replacement
Your front brake pads and rotors wear together, so replacing both at the same time gives you smooth braking and helps prevent noise and vibration. On your Sierra, this job is straightforward if you take your time and keep the brake parts clean.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate | Estimated Time: 2-4 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Park on level ground and chock the rear wheels before lifting the front.
- Use jack stands; never rely on the floor jack alone.
- Do not press the brake pedal with a caliper removed.
- Keep brake cleaner away from painted surfaces and your eyes.
- If the brake fluid reservoir is full, remove a little fluid before pushing the caliper pistons back.
- No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

- Torque on reassembly: 192 Nm (142 ft-lbs)
Step 5: Remove the rotor
- If the rotor is stuck, spray penetrating oil at the hub center.
- Use a rubber mallet to tap the rotor loose.
- Remove the rotor from the hub.
- If there are retaining screws, remove them with a flat-blade screwdriver.
Step 6: Clean the mounting surface
- Use a wire brush to clean the hub face.
